He released his official debut album Rebel With A Cause earlier this year, and, last week, Ghetts dropped a brand new mixtape, Momentum 2. Featuring the Ghetto side of the MC born Justin Clarke, i-D premiere’s Ghetts’ take on DJ Maximum’s Boy Better Know banger, Shaky. Below, Ghetts explains his current state of mind on Shaky:
 
“Shaky is probably my favourite ever Boy Better Know tune. It’s hard, still. Lyrically, my favourite bar from my version is ‘I don’t want to put the bally on I’m praying/ These MC’s better let me know what the movie is and what character they’re playing/ I been calm too long let me bring back Ghetto and tell man I’m here’… (laughs). The overall tune is me tapping into my old-skool style. I could say that bar in a clash because my old style was very based on ‘I’m this, you’re that’. There’s not very much substance in it, but I know a lot of people gravitate towards that side of arrogance and ignorance of bars like that. There’s surface fans that might more like that side and there’s real fans. Surface fans are like ‘I love Ghetts I’m his biggest fan’. ‘What’s Ghett’s first CD?’ ‘I don’t know’. I’m from an era where my peers aren’t on the internet, they’ve got kids now. I have to speak for the people who will grow with me. I can’t speak for the new kids who are fans of grime; it’s for Stormzy to speak to them. I can’t do that. It’s not my job. I have to speak on how I’ve grown and then the people that have grown with me will relate to that because they’ve grown in the same manner. They’ve gone through fatherhood now, they’ve had three of four jobs now; they’re not gonna relate to a 30 year-old spitting like I am on Momentum 2. They can’t. It’s impossible. They’re not in that frame of mind no more. It’s all good though because as long as I can do what I’ve done this year and release something for everyone, I’m good. If you like the arrogance and the ignorance, then definitely get Momentum 2, if you like something more mature then get Rebel With A Cause.”

It is Monday the 6th of August 2012 and we welcome back Juan Pablo Pfirter from Argentina, another returning guest on the CLR Podcast. Juan Pablo is considered one of the most influential and internationally acclaimed djs from South America. Numerous of the biggest players in the Techno scene are playing his tracks up and down, he releases on some of the most credible labels in today´s world of electronic music and he is a much in demand dj in South
America and world-wide. Pfirter also just released a remix of MOTOR´s “Hyper Lust” (feat. Billie Ray Martin) on CLR, which came out digitally and on a limited edition picture disc, together with another remix by Monoloc. Recently he re-started his own label MindTrip (formerly MindTrip Music) and has some very interesting releases coming up. You can actually listen to his MOTOR remix and his upcoming MindTrip release, an original production by Pfirter entitled “The Fall Of The Empire Is Imminent” in this exclusive podcast mix. Now an internationally successful DJ, Eric Sneo started learning to play musical instruments from a young age, after his grandfather introduced him to an accordion at only the age of 4, he went on to experiment with drums after buying a drum kit in his teenage years and started to attend local jazz shows, where he really learned how to improvise. In 1991 he saw Sven Vath playing in Frankfurt, and it was here when he fell in love with what he was listening to, and wanted to know more.

With his unique performances on the E-drums during his DJ sets, Eric swiftly developed into a distinctive and highly sought after international performer with his unforgettable sets. After he presented his unique “Art of Life” show at the Nature One Festival (2009) for the first time, he gained rave reviews throughout an exclusive festival tour of the show in the summer 2010 and 2011. Eric can combine his trademark groovy technoid DJ style with his live performance of a range of acoustic and electronic instruments, including E-Drums, E-accordion, percussion & didgeridoo.

In 2011 he launched his new Mudra Audio label, where he released his critically acclaimed album “Polarity” in March 2012. Supported by international artists like Laurent Garnier, Len Faki, Dubfire, Luciano, Gabriel Ananda and Cari Lekebusch, the album was highly successful, so much so much so, that Umek signed the album track “Shut Up & Dance” as a single for his 1605 label, which was released in August 2012.

With his successful “Move On” EP in 2013, he became a member of Christian Smith’s respected, forward-thinking Tronic family, a move that led to him to his 5th album of his career “Intensity’ which was released on Tronic in 2014. Much acclaimed support lead to a steady stream of hits on Tronic, with his “Move On” and “Metanoia” tracks remixed by Pig&Dan, Paco Osuna and Mendo.

Eric has announced he will be released his next album, which will be his second on Tronic in February 2017 with ‘Sound Traveler’. Featuring 14 original tracks which show Eric’s eagerness for experimentation. Providing full bodied beats and rolling basslines, closing the gap between tech-house and techno.
