The Listeners is a descent into the darker chambers of nineteenth-century poetry, where forgotten voices, spectral cities and restless dreams take form through metal. Conceived as a dialogue between literature and extreme music, the album reimagines works from Victorian, decadent and pre-Raphaelite poets—voices who wrote of despair, obsession, death and the silent spaces between worlds.

Each track transforms a poem into a new sonic body: atmospheric black metal collides with brutal passages, shifting tempos and unexpected textures. Guitars weave tremolo storms and groove-driven riffs, bass lines surge forward with distorted presence, and drums move between oppressive weight and relentless propulsion. Male baritone growls and harsh soprano invocations give voice to the ghosts of the texts.

From the haunted threshold of “The Listeners”, where unseen presences gather in silence, the album journeys through the spiritual torment of “The Dark Angel,” the fatal dreamscapes of “The Dead Man’s Dream,” the obsessive decadence of “Non Sum Qualis Eram Bonae Sub Regno Cynarae,” and the apocalyptic nihilism of “The City of Dreadful Night.” Along the way appear spectral lovers, abandoned landscapes, and the lingering echoes of poems that refuse to remain on the page.

Rather than simple adaptations, these works become new ritual spaces where literature and extreme metal intersect. The words of long-dead poets are pulled from the past and reshaped into sound—dark, visceral, and alive again.

The Listeners is not merely an album.
It is a gathering of voices across time.

And in the silence between the riffs, they are still listening.
