Night has fallen, the threat of extinction riding on the edge of its transition. Decaying and contorted faces of the undead leer from the shadows, twisted limbs reaching from the darkness towards the eternal signal - driven to crush its subversive broadcast and extinguish the final beacon. A single being stands in their way - the strongest of his kind, the last of a genetic line extending into a derelict past with an imperative to preserve the future. An arsenal of sonic weaponry residing within the lines of his palms, drawn forth through the ancient forms manifested by long-dead masters. His swift movement amongst the shuffling army is efficient - acute strikes snap limbs, raw concentrated power crushes bone, low-frequency techniques leaving little behind from the weight of brutal molecular disruption. With the rising of the sun, only he remains – the broken dead lying scattered and without motion – the focused power of his fighting form has prevailed… the signal is preserved.

TELEKINESIS return on powerful form to the EATBRAIN label with 5 tracks of a truly insidious and tearing nature in the NO BRAIN, NO PAIN EP. The pseudo-friendly eerie nature of ‘Slime Gland’ leads the way, with nostalgic synth lines and airy pads punctuated by sharp steppy percussion. SPIDER’s initial creeping rhythm grows in stature over its introduction, quickly becoming a brash arpeggiated lead that provides the springboard for the track’s primary aspect, a sharply edged bassline that moves to a funk fueled rhythm atop a torrent of percussion. Taking a step back, the inventor looked upon his creation with a mixture of pride and awe. Above him towered a clockwork golem with blood of fire and skin of steel, a protector of that which he had ordained worthy of protection. It’s profile displayed the raw strength of the forges from which it had been wrought, actualized by the servos and motors which drove its mighty body forwards in lumbering motion. Atop its head roared a constant blaze, its uncontainable life energy surging forth from any available outlet in a ferocious display of raw vitality. In a contemplative moment, the inventor then looked upon himself, diminutive and weak by comparison to the champion he had created. He thought of its purpose, shedding a momentary tear for those like him who might fall under its wrathful gaze, but then shook his head with renewed resolve. “It must be done” he said to himself, “They have not the STATE OF MIND necessary to rule this world”. Turning his eyes back to the golem, the inventor set his titanic creation forth on its grim path with naught but a single nod.

With a bellowing roar of the blaze within its skull, the golem emerged from the forest of its creation in a moment of stark contrast as it began to take its creators vengeance upon the city that lay before it. It was itself a city of steel and flame, which tore relentlessly at the lands around it in an exploitative & all consuming hunger. Jets of flame shot forth from the golem’s maw as it tread upon the inferior structures beneath it, reducing that built of this hunger to the component parts it so wantonly consumed. As it stood within the inferno, the golem itself began to feel its own gnashing teeth, the heat of the flames slowly stripping its steel skin to the bone. With a final titanic roar the golem reached a point of criticality, exploding in a massive gout of flame and molten shrapnel which leveled all that remained of what had once been the great city. Watching from high within the forest, the inventor nodded his head in a farewell to his creation, assured by it’s ultimate cry that this land was safe once again from those who would do it harm.


STATE OF MIND returns to EATBRAIN with four reimaginings of their past tracks by themselves and others within the harder side of Drum & Bass. Receiving a flip by Italian neurofunk trio IHR is the notorious collab with label boss Jade 'HIGHLANDER', which features the addition of a motive & fluid reece bassline atop the track’s already driving drumbeat for a dancefloor devastating sonic combination. STATE OF MIND themselves present a VIP of GIANT, which smashes forth on massive drums accentuated by simultaneous bass stabs in a titanic sprint beneath detuned tonal sprites. BYPASS is remixed by MOB TACTICS, whom bypass nothing as they push the track into overdrive in a flurry of furious basses, frenetic arpeggios and brief moments of levity provided by snippets of vocals. Closing the EP is the SYNERGY remix of TIME SLIP FT. KRYPTOMEDIC, which rides the MC’s narration upwards in an ever intensifying crescendo towards a distorted realm of metallic basses that rocket out above their electrified companions and an unstoppable drumbeat. In all, the STATE OF MIND REMIXES morph some of the prolific duo’s most powerful track on EATBRAIN into monstrous new forms, setting them up for further dominance on future dancefloors.

Jade, one of the primary architects of the neurofunk sound, presents the latest release on his distinguished imprint Eatbrain;
Telekinesis – The Nightwalkers EP. Telekinesis - the highly praised Slovenian duo consisting of Smooth and Markoman - joins an already drool-worthy roster of neurofunk talent on Eatbrain, further solidifying the label’s reputation as a stalwart of quality drum and bass. And with names like Concord Dawn and MC Coppa in the equation, the 6th release on Eatbrain stands out as a must-own for any neurofunk head.

Nightwalkers EP kicks off with an dynamic collaboration between Telekinesis and Coppa, the Berlin-based MC who's collaborations with Prolix and Mindscape made enormous waves within the drum and bass scene in 2012. Telekinesis’s knack for atmosphere comes into full effect at the outset before Coppa's infectious rhymes take hold, winding things up into an irresistible drop. Still possessing the same raw ferocity that Telekinesis has become known for, 'Pocket Full Of Drops' takes their sound into playful territory. Combining their dirty signature bass, cleanly constructed drums, and Coppa's clever lyricism, 'Pocket Full of Drops' a true mood-lifter bound to crush any dancefloor it touches. Good vibes, plain and simple. 

Next up, New Zealand badboy Concord Dawn features on the EP's eponymous track, 'Nightwalkers.' Opening with an optimistic-sounding concoction of warm pads, a light drum break, and shimmering synth arpeggios, the melody soon takes a darker turn as the full-moon comes out and the dead begin to rise. By the time the tune drops, it's too late - you've already been bitten by Telekinesis and Concord Dawn's monstrous musical creation, and there is no hope for you. One thing is certain; 'Nightwalkers' is a hauntingly contagious track capable of turning an otherwise normal human into a mindless dancing abomination. Beware.

The EP's third track, 'Lich,' promises to slay crowds with its upbeat neurofunk vibes. Clean drums, spirited keys, and a dirty yet carefully polished bassline make this energetic roller a dangerous piece of ammunition. Nightwalkers EP wraps up with a truly fun yet complex exercise in future funk, 'She Wants To Skate'. A tune made purely for the dancefloor, 'She Wants To Skate' jumps right into things with tight, lively drums and an uplifting synth riff. Telekinesis's trademark bass warms itself up, before ripping into full swing at the drop, twisting and turning throughout the track amidst a catchy chopped up vocal. 'She Wants To Skate' is a particularly infectious joint, bound to get bodies moving and put smiles on faces.
