Matt. We’ll talk about it later. Let’s talk about summer, about 
June. Let’s talk shit about your favorite basketball teams,
none of whose names I’ll know. Let’s talk about roller skating. Bowling
with the guards up. Whose auntie brings the most ridiculous church hat.
Let’s talk about whose grandmama makes the better cobbler. I know
them’s fighting words. Let’s talk it out. Let’s talk
about Breonna & George & Ahmaud & Jacob. Let’s talk about
how guilty white people felt those three weeks, how they venmoed their $5
reparations for looking in my direction. Was that justice? I don’t know, nobody
wanted to talk about it.  I was never without cash that summer. 
Let’s talk about it. Nah, nah, don’t change the subject now, 
there’s so much to discuss. It’s not even noon yet, but the weather 
is excellent — let’s talk about it. The snow is taking its violent chill 
elsewhere for at least another season. Families are picnicking 
where Seneca Village once stood. Down
in Missouri, lightning bugs are illuminating
my grandfather’s pond. Come 
outside, there’s still so much to say.
I just wanna talk.
