Now with an on-going residency for Paradise at DC10 Mark Jenkyns is officially regarded as a part of the underground elite. By upholding a high standard on every production and performance he’s carving his name into the clubland consciousness. 

Whether alone or as part of his sister project with Christopher Sylvester, Mark Jenkyns is as committed to studio time as he is the club. Constantly tweaking and perfecting his records to ensure they get bodies moving everywhere from the main room to the after party.

Although the idea of providing a good time seems simple on the surface, it’s those that want to do everything to make it happen, to its full potential, that will keep the floor full and the party at its peak. That level of dedication guarantees that when Mark Jenkyns wants the club to go off, it’s a safe bet that it will.

People keep asking for my Favela Set but it never came out. I attempted to re-record this week while juggling being a full-time Professor and Mom.  These are my favela favorites and I hope you like them.  In my opinion, some of the mixes are off.  I was faced with the decision of finally getting it out or waiting around till I could re-record it perfectly.  Time is limited at the moment, so I'm publishing it raw and as is.  I wanted it perfect, but honestly, in my opinion, sometimes perfect is boring. So here you go...my imperfectly perfect mix of a collection of my favela favs.

Fractal Forest Mix - Shambhala 2017

for the first 5 years of writing electronic music I was making dubby, DnB, Jungle, Hip hop and experimental music. It wasn't until my friend convinced me to try and write a trance tune (which I refused to do for a long time) ' The Moof is Rooving ' I played at one of my first sets as the last track at a small out door festival in the forest outside of nelson along side my dubby experimental music and as soon as the first kick dropped people were coming out of the trees and running to the dance floor and dancing like people having an exorcism. Once I was back home after the summer in nelson I started to write psy break and some more psychedelic stuff. as the next summer came around I had a full set of tunes to play and was pushed into the spot light playing greats times and having an amazing response.
The fractal of life opened up in front of me and I have surfed that wave far and wide playing grouch all over the world. The problem was that I didn't have enough time to write enough even grouch music which is why my album on zenon records " Corpus Callosum' took me upwards of 5 years to finish.

I knew that as soon as the album was done and I was back from touring it I would be getting deep and going back to my roots and writing music that just comes out of me so naturally - LOVE it it comes straight from my heart and I am so happy to have had the time and support to finish this piece of my self.

My journey in life through my music is a transformation healing path where i am having to face my insecurities of being on stage where I often get stage fright BUT the love of my passion for music has kept me getting up on stage and facing the fear. Every time I get up there I have a healing experience, facing my fears with my love and so I grow and feel humbled to the core from this Life's blessing of giving me a passion I knew I would never let go.

Here is my partner Mac and I with a lively B2B mix at the final Family Room party in Santa Rosa. Two locations, eight years, hundred of dj's, Family Room was the longest running house music staple in California north of the golden gate bridge and an anchor for community and underground culture in the 707. We wanted to end things on a fun and optimistic note for everyone. This set is a chunky, uptempo "true" house set comprised of older tracks and many recognizable classics.

Huge shoutouts to Mac, Larry, Bret, Russell G, Ari, Randy Yap, Whitney Snelling, and the legend Tim Brown. Also tremendous thanks, gratitude, and love to everyone that kept Family Room chugging for so long and all of those you came to laugh, dance, play, and support.

Hunt & Gather Sessions 12

Starting in the misty past of the last century, Erik was taken to a party that he rather enjoyed, which started a habit of having way too much fun dancing to really loud music in unlikely places. Not too long after that first party, he had his own sound system, and carted it all over the deserts, forests and warehouses of southern california to help give other people loud music to dance to. While doing that, he noticed that DJs were having a lot of fun, and figured he should give it a shot. More than a decade after first getting behind the decks, he's still at it, with most of what he plays now falling somewhere in the giant and wonderful family tree of House music. Exactly which branch depends on where and when, but basslines are always key, funk is essential, and a little melody now and then never hurt anyone.
