FREQ of the week! Faisal Al Heraki, A.K.A Chills, is a musician, DJ/ Producer, born and raised in Jeddah of a Syrian descent. In his upbringing, chills grew up in a musically influenced environment where he was encouraged to take piano lessons for over a decade.
Chills started his DJ path in 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey, where he spent years playing in major local night clubs (alongside local hard-hitters).

With years of experience in the party scene, Chills developed the proper skills for what it takes to be a good DJ, with track-selection and smoothness of transitions and a uniqueness of his own sound. For Chills, its all about the mood and the deep underground groove, whether its Tech, Minimal or Deep House, getting those goosebumps that makes you want to dance it off is Chills specialty, where he delivers chilling approach that slowly make you tap your feet and nod your head, till you leave the dance floor all sweaty and head cleared. Sebastian has been sharing and mixing his tunes through the world since he got his first MK2 back in Paris in 2003. Discovering nightlife at Le Palace in the late 90s and soon collecting vinyl from Parisian stores like Katapult, Techno Import, or Kitsuné, the original inspiration came from the Detroit Scene through Garnier's Rex residencies and the terrific Kill the DJ parties at le Pulp.
He has been behind the decks throughout the US, Europe, Latin America and currently resides in New York City. Sharing the stage with names like Birds of Minds, Unders, Mandrake & Dramian (Mayan Warrior), Carlita, Maga, Bonjour Ben, Djuma Soundsystem, Patrik Khach, and Holmar his experience engaging the crowd and technical expertise are praised by the industry. As both a DJ and Music Director at Amaya Mezcal Club in New York, he is well-equipped to take his audience on a unified journey of a downtempo, melodic house with deep and dark transporting sounds.

Ich drehe das alte Radio auf volle Lautstärke und mein Fuß beginnt zu wippen. Plötzlich stellt sich das vertraute Gefühl ein. Glückshormone strömen durch meinen Körper und mein Magen kribbelt. Meine Gliedmaßen brechen aus ihrem dumpfen, vom Gehirn gesteuerten Schattendasein aus und gewinnen nach und nach ihre Selbstständigkeit zurück. Das Wippen des Fußes wird zu den ersten zaghaften Tanzschritten und mein schambesetzter Widerstand schwindet. Wenige Sekunden später sind meine Bewegungen bereits fließend und folgen einer erdachten Choreographie. Mein spontaner Stimmungsausbruch gepaart mit der lauten Musik zieht schnell die Aufmerksamkeit auf sich. Die ersten Leute bleiben stehen und schauen interessiert zu. Bald habe ich erste Mitstreiter auf der großen Wiese, die uns als Tanzfläche dient. Die Musik lockt immer mehr Passanten in den Park und nach und nach füllt sich die Wiese. In mir wächst das Gefühl, dass ich all diese Menschen mit meiner Freude angezogen habe und sie diese nun teilen.

About the Artist:

Music has always been a defining part of his life, an inexhaustible source of refreshment and relaxation that took on a new dimension in 2008: he began not only to listen to but also to collect and play songs. Throughout his career, he has explored numerous styles, ranging from the soft charm of deep house to the energetic beats of techno, in search of his musical identity. However, there is now a world where he truly feels at home: this is none other than organic house. He has become enchanted by the allure of live instruments and beautiful melodies and has now become a devotee of organic sounds. Each chord and every beat awakens new feelings within him, allowing him to delve deeper into the essence of music.

In addition to his involvement in events, radio broadcasting, and studio recordings, he is currently focusing on the realm of podcasting, within which he operates two exclusive series on SoundCloud. One, Sounds Between Us, has been delivering monthly mixes featuring guest DJs and producers since 2016, encompassing a wide stylistic spectrum. The other, Dreamcast, launched in October 2023. This series presents the wonderful world of organic house to listeners in two sets each month, often under Squell’s guidance, occasionally featuring a guest, but always remaining true to the style.

For him, music is not merely a collection of sounds; it embodies fulfillment, a way of life, and love. Music captivates him, and he knows he will be a captive for life.

His journey began as a quest for inspiration, but the desert had other plans. Among the shifting sands, he encountered an ancient alien civilization camouflaged by mirrors pointing skyward like an obelisk, within these shapes their rhythms pulsating through the air like a cosmic heartbeat. 
Drawn into a short but fierce war for their freedom from country music festivals in the desert wastelands, he fought fearlessly alongside them, his beats becoming a weapon of unity and defiance. When the dust settled, he emerged with more than just survival—he carried the essence of their struggle, their joy, and their liberation. In the heart of the desert, under a sky ablaze with stars, he finally found it: the perfect mix, a symphony of Earth and cosmos, freedom and love, a sound that would echo across galaxies.
This set was meticulously delivered to Deep House Paris using an invisible UFO drone, which effortlessly soared through the Parisian skyline to deliver the tracks directly to this exact location. The futuristic delivery added an otherworldly vibe to the collaboration, blending technology and music in the heart of the city of lights.
