Damian Le Bas is a writer from West Sussex. He speaks about his love for the music of Jimmie Rodgers - an American country singer in the late 1920s and 30s.

We focus on the prophetic writings of Palestine's poet laureate, Mahmoud Darwish. It speaks to what Palestine may be once the brutality of the occupation ends. But Darwish also wrote of anger, of loss, of love, and of coffee! And it is all these things, and more, which make up what it is to be human, and what it is to be Palestinian. Then there is another key Palestinian figure that has made it to our news feeds on social media; that of Ghassan Kanafani.

In 'Fire, Faith and Fury', writer and performer Daljeet Kaur Jutla reflects on the significance of fire in the ongoing journey of grief, healing, faith and spirituality 20 years after her father’s tragic death - from the small sparks of childhood memories to the inferno of political upheaval in 1984 Delhi when Sikhs were brutally murdered.

Daljeet Kaur Jutla is a writer/producer whose writing and performances have featured in places like BBC Radio 4's Short Cuts, Broccoli Productions' Anthems podcast and as a writer/producer of her Indie podcast 'Spoken Truth to Power' funded by ACE England. She has recently co-produced an audio piece for the Empathy Museum series 'A Mile in my Shoes'.

The other day, when I was out exploring in the woods with my 9 year old daughter she asked: “What does in sound like inside a spruce cone?” I was quite proud of her at that moment….and of course, we had to find the answer. So we laid a cone in the sunshine, poked the mic in and found this delightful gentle hidden sound….

Dr Ahmad Terkawi is a Syrian refugee living in Sweden. Between November 2015 and April 2016, Ahmad and his organisation’s twelve volunteers used their mobile phones to help around 28,000 refugees safely make the perilous sea crossing from Turkey to Greece in tiny rubber boats. Ahmad co-founded the Maritime Organisation for Following Up and Rescue together with a Syrian friend in Germany.
