“At Wildwood” came to me in the summer of 2018, while visiting Wildwood, NJ, during a family vacation. I was fortunate enough to marry into a wonderful family that has roots along the east coast. Many of those individuals spend time down the shore during the summer, and my wife, Marge, and I love visiting them. We spend a great deal of our days riding waves, enjoying the sights at the beach, riding bikes, and walking on boardwalks or “the boards,” as they are affectionately known.

Wildwood NJ, is known for its rich history of Rock ’n Roll that dates back to the introduction of Bill Haley and the Comets, Chubby Checker, and Bobby Rydell. In fact, Bill Haley launched his hit single, “Rock Around the Clock,” in Wildwood, in 1954. Chubby Checker did the same with his hit, “The Twist,” at Wildwood’s famous Rainbow Club in 1960. Nonetheless, it was Bobby Rydell who won the hearts of Wildwood fans in 1963 with his Wildwood hit, “Wildwood Days.” The song is still proudly played over the speakers on the boards today. 

“At Wildwood” is my tribute to the early Rock ’n Roll era in Wildwood, NJ, and to what Wildwood is today, an amazing Jersey shore vacation spot for anybody seeking fun in the sun. Along with the help of my east coast brother-in-law, Jim Owens, I was able to write the song.

During the creation of "At Wildwood," I needed help during the recording process, so I called upon two very good friends who had no problem belting out pure vocal lines, David Zent and Jim Reed. David is known for his work as a Melodrama actor, his skill in stage-production, his talents in music composition and writing, and his powerful voice, and did I mention that he had throat cancer and won! Jim Reed has been involved in Gospel quartets and trios for many years. He managed and sang bass for The RSV Quartet, a west coast Gospel favorite, for many decades. It was an honor to work with both gentlemen on the project.

Robin Bramlett : This is My Life

Renowned for playing multiple instruments, Ernie Lewis has been called a "renaissance man" in his field. Ernie is a singer and song writer who enjoys performing many genres of music.

Ernie was born in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, where he spent his childhood in the early 1960s playing in the woods, picking boysenberries, and learning his first tunes on his brother's Harmony acoustic guitar. He moved with his family to Bakersfield, California, in 1966, and since then he has performed in a number of established California-based groups.

In 1979, Ernie joined the company of Tom Hunnicutt, who - at that time - was the leader of a Folk/Bluegrass band, the Honeybee Ridge Gang. The gang performed at a variety of functions, one of which was hosted by Buck Owens.

In 1981, the Honeybee Ridge Band disbanded, and Ernie found a new home as a member of the Moosehead Band, the brain child of Kenny Walters who asked Ernie to give his band a try, and that he did.

The Moosehead Band performed up to 2009, and during the band's 28-year run, the group had the opportunity to compete in the Seagram's 7 Battle of Bands in Nashville, Tennessee, where the members represented Southern California and took 3rd place in 1983. In addition, the group opened for such greats as John Anderson, Asleep at the Wheel, the Bellamy Brothers, the Flying Burrito Brothers, and Bailey and the Boys. The band also performed with Jim Hager from the Hager Brothers, Mayf Nutter, legendary Roy Nichols of Merle Haggard and the Strangers, and Mark Herndon from the Country group Alabama.

After the Moosehead Band separated, Ernie did some soul searching and discovered that he enjoyed playing Bluegrass again, and in December 2009, Ernie accepted an invitation to be a member of Highway 65. Currently, Ernie is working on his original music and is enjoying meeting new friends along the way. His enthusiasm is contagious.
