The panel of judges included King Unique, Robert Babicz, Oliver Lieb, Gavin Kingsley (The Radio Department), Nick Muir, and of course, John Digweed himself.

The purpose of this mix is two-fold: to provide an enjoyable musical journey for the audience and to impress the hell out of the judges. To do this, I chose only the best tracks from Structures Two, and ones that were related in harmony, choice of sounds, texture, and mood. Below is a track-by-track analysis of my competition entry…

00:00 – We begin with the King Unique Kosmische Mix of Vamoosh by Anthony Pappa & King Unique. The ping pong delay is set to 50% to create a spacey atmosphere, and to avoid sounding the same if someone else chose the same intro.

00:30 – The absolutely sublime From Paris To Berlin Mix of Jardin Nights by King Roc & Dimitri Nakov [119 BPM] begins.

01:47 – Misstress Barbara & H.O.S.H. Finally Mine (Gorge Remix) [123 BPM] enters the mix.

04:29 – Dibby Dougherty & David Young Tiger Forest (Ryan Davis Rework) [124 BPM] starts creeping in. The hi hats and clap from the previous track are looping throughout Tiger Forest to keep the energy flowing.

08:59 – Jimmy Van M & Steve T. We Are Children [125 BPM] begins. I felt this track could have used more hi hats, so I’ve taken the ride cymbal from Tom Hades Come On and kept it looping throughout the entire production.

12:27 – Oliver Lieb Parallex (Melody FX) is layered on top. It sounds great together with the vocals and strings in the breakdown.

13:43 – John Digweed & Nick Muir Bilder (King Unique Rebild Mix) [127 BPM] enters. Of course we have to include this one as it’s arguably one of the strongest selections in Structures Two! Plus, gotta pay homage to Bedrock. No, but actually there is another reason why. Up until now, we have been using tracks in the key of D minor. It would be terribly boring to have an entire mix in D minor, wouldn’t it? Luckily, Bilder is in the similarly related key of G minor, which allows for an ultra-smooth and seamless blend.

18:40 – We hear Kruse & Nuernberg My Real Name Is (Reprise) being sampled in the breakdown of Bilder

20:58 – Timo Maas Kick 1 Kick 3 (Maetrik Sexy Remix Edit) [126 BPM] kicks in.

22:14 – Lewis Ryder Kaffee-Monster Schief Gegangen (Nathan Coles & David Coker’s Spanish Fly Mix) [122 BPM] begins. The last 10 minutes of the mix are much different than how we began. Now we are dealing with mainly percussive tracks that are less harmonically complex. The music becomes faster-paced and the energy continues to build.

24:15 – This is where things begin to get really interesting. Clement Meyer Piece By Piece (Maetrik Remix) is an atonal piece with hints of E minor towards the end. The Lewis Ryder track preceding it is in B flat minor, so the root notes from both songs playing together creates a rather strong dissonance. Specifically, it is a tritone relationship, which normally sounds horrible but is actually considered stylish these days.

26:09 – The percussion from Timo Maas Kick 1 Kick 3 (Maetrik Sexy Remix Edit) is looping in the background.

27:55 – King Unique 2000000 Suns (KU Heat Death Of The Universe Mix) fades in. The music crescendoes into an intense climax before the set finally winds down. Notice how I begin and end with King Unique for continuity.

John Digweed Live In Cordoba Three months on from his truly historic 5-hour marathon set at the open-air Tres Aguas venue in Cordoba, Argentina at the start of 2012, UK legend John Digweed looks back and then forward as he prepares to share the magic and indulge those not fortunate enough to attend that unforgettable January night. 

So unbelievably special was the occasion both for John and the thousands of party-goers who bore witness that on 30th April, the Bedrock head-honcho will release his brand new triple CD package Live in Cordoba, giving Digweed fans across the world the chance to experience and reminisce upon what was, in his own words, one of the best party atmospheres [hes] ever experienced. Complete with two Live Mix CDs (1&2) and a third bonus disc featuring exclusive un-released and most importantly unmixed cuts from Digweeds bag, the Live in Cordoba triple long player captures so exquisitely the innate capacity John has for manipulating and executing sounds and continuously wowing a crowd for hours on end with impeccable record selection. 

CD 1 showcases John`s ability to set the mood with grooving house and forward thinking techno tracks with remixes from the likes of Agoria, Martin Buttrich, Robert Babicz, Dominik Eulberg, Stephan Bodzin and Subb_an. 

CD 2 sees John shift gears with chunky beats and driving techno from Maetrik, Alljacks, Oliver Lieb, Boys Noize & Erol Alkan, Nick Curly and Guy J, among others. 

CD 3 Sees John with his A&R hat on, compiling 10 fantastic, new and unmixed tracks from Sian, Pig&Dan, Dosem and an exclusive remix of Slam`s classic Eterna remixed by John Digweed and Nick Muir.

It may have been fate that Erphun's very first gig was on Halloween since his
music is pounding, moody and transformative, as if from another realm entirely. 
His ability to build a mood in his DJ sets is mesmerizing and transports the listener to that alternate higher level that his moniker infers. 

Erphun has already reached his global fan base and spun in several continents such as Europe, North America, South America and Australia. 
More specifically he’s spun at legendary clubs such as Guvernment in Toronto, Circus in Montreal, Kunstpark Koln in Germany, Exit in Lithuania, Chinese Laundry in Sydney, Brown Alley in Melbourne, WesterUnie in Amsterdam, Butan in Germany, Reaktor in Zurich,
Saxon in Ukraine, 1015 in San Francisco and H2O in Mexico City.

In just five short years of produciton, Erphun has achieved what most accomplish in decades. With releases on Excentric Muzik, Stephan Bodzin’s imprint,
Herzblut, the Berlin based Techno heavy weight Nachstrom Schallplatten, Alan Fitzpatrick’s label 8 Sided Dice , Sleaze Records UK, Ideal Audio and John Digweed’s Bedrock Records, his name is recognized among the Techno world of spinning producers who globe trot his compositions to be dropped on every conceivable audience. 

His music is charted and played by some of the most reputable heavy hitters in the industry today such as Dubfire, Adam Beyer, Len Faki, Sasha, John Digweed, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, Oliver Huntemann, Fergie, and Stephan Bodzin to name a few.

Erphun's unique and different style of music rests on the borders or Techno, and Minimal Techno. 

His signature percussion patterns, menacing basslines and synths are instantly recognizable by his musical peers and his fans world wide. Not only do majority of his DJ sets consist of his own original productions and remixes, but almost every major DJ in the world at one point has either played, supported or
charted his music in all genres of electroni music.

The reaction of the listener to his slow, driving builds of his productions that weave between the almost symphonic-like movements of each of his pieces is always jaw dropping and is usually followed by an exclamatory "SIIIIIICK!".

The sound of his music is succinctly summed up by John Digweed as a “deep, dark, hypnotic and brooding sound…” which inspired the name of his own label,
Brood Audio.

In November of 2010, Erphun launched Brood Audio and has gotten the attention and support of some of the biggest names in the Techno world. Already
having some of the hottest Techno producers on the roster such as Alan Fitzpatrick, Alex Bau, Perc, Markantonio, Xhin, Audio Injection, Subfractal and DJ Emerson, Erphun’s worldwide fan base will get a taste of Erphun’s darker and more sophisticated taste in Techno first hand!
