Darker Days

DJ/Producer and event organiser from Glasgow, Scotland who has been into Electronic music since first hearing Kraftwerk's Man Machine as a kid. Past ventures have been the Seventh City club nights in the 90's and Psychoacoustic promoting music and art. In 2011 UP DIGITAL launched club DUM DUM in Glasgow showcasing the finest live music whilst also support dj-ing, playing the many styles of music that are such a big part of his life. Thank you to everyone who has helped in getting UP DIGITAL going and all the crew and Sedna troopers who give tremendous support and good grace.

"The Error Response material is my outlet to make more subtle ideas. This is purely sample based, natural flowing sequences, and aimed to be atmospheric.. Many tracks are short and sharp - sometimes 2 minutes is all you need to convey that mood." 

“Zen”, the debut Error Response album mixes mysterious film score with downtempo, trip hop grooves, into a masterpiece of sample based electronica… Lifetime producer, Stephen Arnold (AKA Espion – Bass4Bots Records), gave birth to the Error Response project after many years of producing various styles of electronica, liberated by dividing his work into two categories – from industrial and agressive electro as Espion, to downtempo, trip hop as Error Response. As time went on, the music seemed to take on a path of its own, evoking thoughts of Bladerunner-esque, urban environments, with Japanese samurai vibes. The artwork of SHTL conveyed this perfectly, in his absolutely epic CG art piece ‘Sanctus2K9′.

The album is the first of three parts entitled Zen, Tao and Chi, which have been in production since 2005. The music fuses sampled loops and phrases with complex interweaving programmed rhythms and synthesized melodies, with an organic flow, dropping into ambient sections or drum’n'bass, while always sticking to the theme of a mysterious, urban samurai, film noir soundtrack, filled with curiosity, intrigue, thrills, car chases, plot twists, gangsters, cops and femmes fatales.

After several years as a promoter from 2001, Espion made his first real mark on the underground techno/electro scene in 2005, with sell-out releases on Transparent Sounds' label Orson Records, followed by remixes on two of the best selling records on Billy Nasty's Electrix Records.&#13;

Since then, his diversity in his music has seen him progress into a well established artist, releasing with Toob, Swayzak, Bangkok Impact, Mesak, Scape One, John Selway, Paul Blackford, Vector Lovers, Mazzula, C-System, with frequent plays on Dave Clarke's White Noise radio show.&#13;

Espion has brought his dark and meticulous sound to venues all over the UK, Prague, Berlin, Udine (Italy) and Shenzhen (China), while also doing sound recording, sound design, post production and music for short film.&#13;
