As a little kid in the 70's, I loved to irritate my mom with rude and obnoxious noises.  In the early 80's as a teen, I discovered that loud music worked even better.. In the early 90's, a high school buddy and I made some drunken attempts at music production with a guitar, a piece of crap drum kit and some old cassette decks. (Really, we just liked to record ourselves making loud obnoxious noise irritating my roommate..) In 2007 I decided to attended a crash course, broadcasting tech school.. During my study, production became an overwhelming passion for me.. Currently I have a few projects burning in the fire and the future's lookin bright..!! FUNKMATA is the birth of a new generation cosmopolitan African musician namely singer/songwriter Robert Bannerman with session men from Accra Ghana,
Nashville United States and Berlin Europe. This new genre of artist feels that Africa can make its name on the international market with cosmopolitan pop music. The music has many flavours to it and is essentially therapeutic in these troubled times. FUNK music made by Africans with a cosmopolitan background. In January 2007 FUNKMATA was chosen as a Top5 finalist by SOTY songoftheyear.com for the instrumental Realpayback and was given a Web Award. In March 2007 the single Is it True? was chosen for the suggested Artist of the month by SOTY again. Unisong.com which is a songwriting competition judged by songwriters based in California, voted the song Real Payback in it’s Top 20 list of finalists for instrumental songs for the year July’06 to June’07. This was awarded in June ‘07. On the 11th of July ’07 Logginspromotion.com conducted a radio survey of the song Realpayback and obtained the best rating of 4 (****)stars for the song. This manifests the potential of that track if airplay was effected nationwide in the States. FUNKMATA was awarded a nominee for the track Realpayback and Four Finalists slots with ABC Radio’ Famegamesradio.com Effigy Awards in ‘08. The track Still Alive was #26 on ABC’s Top 40 radio charts for Feb ‘09. FUNKMATA is striving to attain greater heights with hard work and planning. This is just the beginning, since we are aware that Africa wants Trade and not Aid and will relentlessly pursue our business plan until we break on through to the other side. We are convinced at this juncture many will follow in FUNKMATA’s footsteps and try to make something out of the blue. We have the belief. We have the faith. We have the power of the mind. Marcus is a British indie-folk artist.  
At five years old he began learning the piano but found his true love – the guitar – at 19, teaching himself to play while travelling in the heart of Spain. 
Marcus experimented with an array of musical instruments and genres before he started writing his own songs. Influenced by his love of folk music – in particular, Bob Dylan, Gregory Alan Isakov, Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell – he writes from the heart, his lyrics reflecting his honesty and candour.

It has been said that legends are created not birthed; but DJ Throdown has defiled this statement. Through his passion to pursue the ultimate plateau as New York’s best kept secret, it almost seems as though he was created to do what he does best.

Though his ultimate roots began in the Bronx, he has branched off into different cities, states and a large arena of events and social gatherings.  As author Marsha Sinetar quoted “Life's up and downs provide windows of opportunity to determine your values and goals...Think of using all obstacles as stepping stones to build the life you want”; indeed DJ Throdown has encompassed this.  He has taken every opportunity to step into an element of excellence due to his obstacles now turned into greater opportunities.

With 16yrs of experience, his style of dee-jaying has no limits.  Whether spinning Hip hop, R&B, old school, reggae or even club music, without a doubt, he will always guarantee to “Keep the crowd moving”.  His collaboration and genius ability to mix and intertwine music of different genres; allows crowds of vast ages to relate and relax to the selections that he, brilliantly collages. DJ Throdown has been compared to the likes of Funkmaster Flex, and Ron G just to name a few.  He has not only graced the tri-state area, he also expanded his talent all the way to Philly.  He has played in numerous venues in NYC such as The PALLADIUM, LUCY LOUNGE, GROOVEJETT, M BAR, FASHION 40 LOUNGE, The KATWALK, BAR 13, NATIONS BAR AND LOUNGE, and the legendary NELLS.  He has also played at the Club Millennium (currently closed), in Newark, NJ.  Alongside his many skillful appearances, DJ Throdown has worked as a Co-hosted on radiomixshow at 99thejoynt .com Sundays from 11-2pm (2009); hosted his own mixshow at bouncefm.com, Saturdays 4-6pm “The- pre-club mixout” (2010); worked with Jones  New York  Style  Guy and  Ann  Taylor stores (2010); twice as a special guest  DJ for the Michaelaradio show (2010,2011); DJ  for The Ted  Smooth old  school summer jam (2011).

DJ Throdown is not only a regular at parties, radio shows, lounges, etc.; but he has proven his great talent to the hospital organizations and kids ventured organizations alike.  He has been the official  DJ  for  “The  Strut Ya Stuff” Talent  Show  for kids (2009,2010,2011), Scratch  Academy  for  Fashion  Week  at  Lord and  Taylors  For  Lloyd  Boston,  DJ  for  The Academy of Mount  St.  Ursula  High School  for  Girls-Valentine’s  Day   Dance (2012) and  for  St. Luke’s   Hospital  Christmas Party (2009,2010,2011), to name a few.

When Throdown is not in the clubs moving the crowd, or mixing it up, he is involved in listening parties for BadBoy, Universal and Sotti Records.  He is also actively involved in promotional and production events for TL5GROUP and TGroove productions.  DJ Throdown is also the Ceo of "Party over Enterpises" which he founded in 2002.  He's always producing the hottest mix CD's from old school to new school that has circulated throughout the Tri-state area.

Throdown is always on the look-out for fresh new artists to advance their career; whether by mixed CD circulation or just grinding the pavement with promoting hot new acts.
