After witnessing one of their sets at Amsterdam institution @breakfast-club-music-1 last year, we felt an instant urge to invite Caim (@caim-records) to our mix series.

While Caim is a recent project, its members Tommy Kornuijt and Mark Antoni have been active in Amsterdam’s scene for years as independent DJ’s, most notably with their residency for the Breakfast Club where they have become known for extended after-hour sets. Last summer they released a first EP on their self-titled label Caim Records, with a second release scheduled for early 2019.

Our first mix of 2019 by Caim is a perfect reflection of their sound: Timeless and with a hypnotizing groove, it finely treads the line between organic techno and rolling breaks.

Kartais tiesiog sunku patikėti, kaip viena naktis gali suformuoti tavo visą muzikinį skonį. Lygiai prieš 2 metus apsilankėme garsiąjame De School klube, HET Weekend vakarėlių serijoje, kuri vyko nuo šeštadienio vakaro iki pirmadienio ankstyvo ryto. Ten, kaip visada, užėjome savo mėgstamiausiu laiku - sekmadienio popiete, kada saulė leidžiasi atlikejui grojant. Tuo metu už pulto stovėjo dar mum visai nežinoma atlikėja - k.atou. Iki šiol eina šiurpuliai vien pagalvojant apie visą setą. Dar taip stipriai šokti niekad neteko. Nuo to laiko visas susidomėjimas minimalistiniu žanru tiktai stiprėjo, taip pat, kaip ir noras daugiau sužinoti apie atlikėją. Teko išklausyti visus mixus, podcastus ir su kiekvienu klausymu likti vis labiau nustebintiem. Kai tik pradėjome savo įrašų seriją, k.atou buvo vienas pirmųjų žmonių, su kuriuo iš karto susisiekėme ir paprašėme įrašyti mixą. Šiandien gavome galutinį rezultatą, kuris išpildė ir perpildė visus lūkesčius. Pristatome 1 valandos linkėjimus tiesiogiai iš Atėnų:

Sometimes it is hard to believe how much one night can influence your musical taste. Exactly 2 years ago we visited the famous De School club and went to HET Weekender party which used to start on Saturday night and finish on Monday morning. As usual, we went to the party on a Sunday afternoon when you can watch the sunset while the artist is playing. At the time, behind the decks there was k.atou - we didn’t really know her back then. We are still getting goosebumps just thinking about the whole set. We never danced so hard in our whole lives. After that moment our interest in minimal music genre just got stronger and we were striving to know more about the artist. We listened to every mix and podcast and we were getting more and more facinated. When we started our mix series, we knew she will be one of the first ones we will make contact and ask to record us a mix. Today we received the final result which was even more than we expected. We present to you 1hour greetings directly from Anthens:

Winter is coming and Berlin is experiencing a second lockdown since the start of the pandemic to the beginning of the year. 

Oh what a year it could have been, looking back to February when we started into 2020 with a big bang, hosting the first of six of our showcase parties at Wilde Renate that turned out to be the first and only one for this year. 

We could fall into the depression of self-pity and only focus on what could have been, but we would not be Loser Records if we could not laugh at our failures, take a step back and enjoy the bright side of things. 

Hands-down, one of our favorite moments of 2020 was to have Mountain People on board as a headliner for our showcase party and enjoying a wild night together at the green floor of Wilde Renate. So we thought let’s refreshen our memories, focus ourselves in the positive parts of 2020 and invite The Mountain People for this month's podcast, which is their first home DJ mix in years.

The Mountain People are a Swiss DJ and producer duo consisting of Serafin and Andre Rozzo and managed to gain a cult status in the scene, mainly known for their extraordinary releases on their same name label.

Even though the high times of minimal house seem over these days, The Mountain People constantly proves that minimal house can be timeless if you carefully add the right ingredients into the mix. And the right ingredients they most certainly found since early on: Hypnotic percussions, deep and dubby grooves, rolling baselines and modulating filters and reverbs just in the right spot at the right time. Every single release on their label feels timeless in deed and comes with a 100% guarantee to keep the dance floor going, presented on a proper sound system that is capable of handling the deep end of their compositions.

So it does not come with a big surprise that they are not only excellent as producers, but as DJs as well. Their rather rare DJ sets never disappoint, hypnotizing the crowd by delivering seamless transitions and pulling it into a deep, mind alerting bubble of sound that you will not want to escape any time soon.

We feel humbled to have The Mountain People on board for or podcast series and hope to meet again in person, once the pandemic has settled.
