Michna and label founder Sam Valenti IV last linked for 2009's Seeing Colors (https://soundcloud.com/ghostly/ghostlycast-38-michna-sv4-seeing-colors-ghostly-influences), a mix of Ghostly influences for the label's 10th anniversary. In advance of the label's 15th year, the pair have mixed a house/techno survey recorded at the end of the summer 2013 on the heels of SV4's MOMA PS1 set and as Michna was recording his new material. Prescriptive Haze offers a set of melancholy and hook-heavy floor cuts.

GhostlyCast #50: Michna/SV4 - Prescriptive Haze

On this week's RIPECast we're extremely pleased to bring you Anthony Mansfield (Disco Knights/Green Gorilla). 

If you weren't there or were there but were too gacked out to remember, this year's Breakfast of Champions had a whole new stage on Utah Street. So we were able to bring Anthony and many more of SF's incredibly talented DJs to the party, and we had the recorders going the whole time. Anthony's Dirt Rave vibe rocked the crowd and was one of the day's highlights -- we know you'll enjoy it! 

About Anthony: 
Anthony Mansfield has been on a 20-year journey through the world of psychedelic dance music ever since attending the now-legendary full moon massives of San Francisco’ s Wicked Crew in the early 90’ s. Anthony spent the rest of the decade in New York, spreading the gospel of deep house across the Empire State with a late- night radio show, his 8-year-running weekly, and the countless underground parties that gave birth to his own crew, HectorWorks Soundsystem. After an exhausting and debaucherous 2-year run as GM, talent booker, and resident DJ at upstate’ s largest live music venue, The Odyssey, Anthony was ready to return to San Francisco.

Anthony hit the West Coast running in 2001, joining his old friend DJ M3 as resident DJ and co-promoter of the infamous Green Gorilla Lounge in a string of successful weekly club nights, true seat-of-your-pants underground parties, and blown- out monthly events across the Bay Area, with some of the city’ s and world’ s best names in dance music. Anthony has left his mark on Burning Man for the last decade as well, at the Space Lounge, Green Gorilla, and Disco Knights sound camps, with a trail of exhausted dancers and party people in the wake of his many epic sets on the Playa.

Anthony has been producing his own particular brand of dance music since his first release on Rong Records in ’ 04 with Ben Cook as “ Barfly”. Quickly moving to found his own label, Hector Works, in 2005 with NYC deep-house production wizard Nick Chacona, Anthony has worked with Garth, Tal M. Klein, Sneak-E Pete, M3, and others in the last five years, releasing tracks on Gomma, Moodmusic, Aniligital, and Om Records. His tunes have received nods (and plays) from some of the world’ s top DJs, including Dimitri from Paris, Harvey, Greg Wilson, Doc Martin, Idjut Boys, Ivan Smaggle, The Revenge, Pete Herbert, and Playgroup. Camped out in his room at Moulton Studios, Anthony is currently hard at work on the 19th release for Hector Works, and looking forward to taking a break for the Treasure Island Music Festival!

It’s been a long time since I’ve made a full length “live” mix of just my own material, mainly because I was focused on my album in recent times. But after some new studio additions and work developing new ideas and new experiments, I’ve got enough fresh material to draw on, along with some old, to put together a new live set only composed of my originals, some remixes I’ve done, and I had to include a couple from the Inhuman remix package because there’s some great work on there from Lusine and Rodriguez Jr. among others.

I’ve approached this mix a little more like my live sets of old, keeping it pretty smooth and letting the tracks do the talking, rather than going too heavy on the genre-swapping and BPM-juggling as I have been doing on other mixes recently. There’s still some (hopefully) unexpected moments though of course, a strings solo, some crunchy glitch, backwards Nyatiti, several brand new never heard before tracks, a homemade desolation bootleg of Spastik, my first ever totally analogue tracks (I’ve only recently taken the plunge into the analogue synth world), and two live Jazz improvisation sessions recorded recently in London.

As a whole, the mix is about being wrapped up in a warm exploration of feelings and landscapes. It will work best with a nice pair of headphones and an open mind. I hope there’s at least some parts in there you enjoy!

We played from 4am to 9am.
This is bout 2 hours into our set. And 40 some hours since we had slept.
