November was a whirlwind month in the music world, packed with releases that left us spoiled for choice. After plenty of listening and a bit of debate, here are the standout selections from the past few weeks: Samurai Music celebrated its 100th vinyl release with a star-studded compilation showcasing producers who define the label’s signature style. It’s a fitting milestone for a label that has consistently pushed boundaries. Bas Dobbelaer and SoHaSo revisited their “Binding Elements” album with a fresh remix package. The collection brings together a wide-ranging lineup, including Leif, Ben Kaczor, Moon Patrol, Dwaalgast, and Will Oirson, offering a vibrant reimagining of the original.

.Vril’s new album, Saturn is a Supercomputer, released on Omnidisc, takes listeners through cosmic atmospheres and intriguing rhythmic experiments. With 12 tracks, it’s an ambitious exploration of his ever-evolving sound. Pugilist and Pod teamed up for their debut collaborative album, Iridescent, released on Of Paradise. The result is a dynamic collection of tracks that shift effortlessly through moods and textures. Reeko’s latest EP on K3 Records is a masterclass in sound design, diving into the darker corners of halftime and techno. It’s eerie, intense, and crafted with incredible precision.

Jay Duncan’s new EP for Baroque Sunburst showcases her knack for blending diverse rhythms and grooves. It’s a release that feels alive with movement and energy. upsammy’s latest album is a refreshing listen, filled with bubbly, laid-back tunes perfect for unwinding. It’s music that feels like a breath of fresh air. The Perpendicular crew returned with their second compilation, solidifying the label’s reputation for delivering deep, innovative, and versatile releases. It’s another step forward for a team that clearly has big plans.

Katatonic Silentio’s new release on .UNDER MY FEET, Middle Ages, is a bold, experimental work that leans into edgy and unconventional sound structures. It’s not for the faint-hearted but deeply rewarding for those who appreciate sonic risks. Finally, Ludvig Cimbrelius, under his Purl moniker, offers the Himmelsandar LP, a soothing and beautifully crafted project that feels like stepping into a dream. It’s music that invites you to pause, reflect, and simply be.

Each release brings something unique, reminding us why November remains such an exciting month in the music calendar.

Keep your friends close, https://soundcloud.com/bas-dobbelaer must have thought when he asked a few gifted producers to remix his recent ambient work. Five tracks from his beautiful and intimate Binding Elements-album (2023) were pushed in new directions by befriended producers and colleagues such as Moon Patrol, Will Oirson and https://soundcloud.com/leifsounds.

The latter turns Submerge into a melodic minimalist piece which pays homage to both Susumo Yokota and Steve Reich. Swiss-born producer https://soundcloud.com/benkaczor goes 4x4 on Irregular, pushing the dreamy original towards Giegling territory in a good and meditative way. 

https://soundcloud.com/dwaalgast108 extrapolates the dub elements in the title track Binding Elements while Brooklyn duo Moon Patrol takes things even deeper on their bass heavy remix of Rise. Closing track Ray gets a wonderful sun-bleached ambient treatment by the talented https://soundcloud.com/willoirson. All five remixes breathe new life in the original versions while retaining their unique magic. That’s what friends are for.

The second release on GRACE comes courtesy of @keplrr. Following Katiusha’s EP in spring, ‘False Awakening’ extends the label’s vision for mind-blurring techno flavours. 

The UK artist showcased his ear for unusual ceremonial techno on his recent ‘Plumes’ record for Midgar. On GRACE002, Keplrr goes deeper into that style. What’s now becoming his signature psychedelic elegance unfurls over two 8-minute journeys, run through with hallucinatory ebbs and flows.

Side A sets the stage with "Cylinder," a collaborative effort between Slak and Stephanie Sykes. Appleblim follows with "Every Blade Of Grass," a wild break-electro beat that combines ferocious reese bass and solid synths.

Side B begins with Datafive's "My PC Is Not Political Correct," delivering his personal take on low-tempo drum and bass merged with wistful idm melodies, and the usual dose of sound design. The compilation concludes with Anna Kost "W03 X" delves into the world of futuristic electro, with accurate sound design and drum programming combined with spiritual atmospheres.

Samurai Music presents it's 100th Vinyl Release with Hyaku

The medium is the message! Vinyl has always been our preferred medium for releasing music and without this tactile form of presentation, Samurai Music would not continue in its current form. Vinyl is the ultimate personification of what the label wishes to represent. Music always comes first, but the vinyl artefact is king for us.

Hyaku is the 100th Vinyl release on the Samurai Music label. Through the many twists and turns of the industry in our almost 17 years of existence, the Samurai Music vinyl releases have maintained their aspiration for quality, unique design that stands the test of time. Praise and thanks always to our long time designer Ryan Quinlivan and the many pressing plants we have worked with over the course of our labels lifespan.

For his sixth 96 Back LP, Evan Majumdar-Swift found himself writing “a long form eulogy” to his years living in Manchester while preparing for an imminent move to London. Initially intended as a series of technical exercises, which saw the artist radically stripping back his established production setup, over the last two years tender, exit gradually took on the form of an emotional landscape, mapped in transit between two cities. “The overarching concept of the record is cycles, recognising them, loving them, and tearing yourself away from them,” he says. Heard together, the project takes on the pace and cadence of a passionate conversation with a loved one.

Back with the second instalment of the 5th Birthday series – INTL.PDCOMP003 features both returning artists and some new faces at the dome, with a huge rage of sounds from across the globe. 

Christian Coiffure and Elsa get things going, both returning to the label and submerging us with their downtempo explorations before we welcome Heling and Knopha – both integral heads in the Chinese club and radio scene with some beautiful, headsy additions to the catalogue. Continuing to explore the chug zone, ophélie joins the PD fam with a moody, introspective take before we get hit with the more up front contributions from pq and newcomer EYRA. 

Picking up the pace, Design Default’s “Million Knives” is certified to bring a dance floor moment while Sha Ru, Odd Shy Guy and Tano all provide their excursions into bass in that 140-150bpm space a with deep half time cut from our fave NY duo, a heavy bass bin rattler direct from Italy and signature playful, percussive piece from Tano. Fels completes the line up with a cinematic return to 100bpm.

After starting with a focus of pushing local artists 5 years ago, we feel so blessed we’ve been able to make connections with so many incredible artists from all corners of the planet as we’ve grown over the years.

Is all about the experiences we feel when in contact with Nature...
We are so used to living in the matrix that we don't realize how much we need to re-establish connections with ourselves and mother earth.

This work is a way to describe how a simple morning hike between the sand of the desert and the mediterranean sea in a natural park in southern Spain can touch our deepness and make us feel that huge and strong connection with nature.

To give strength to this description I had the pleasure to have two great remixes by artists who I admire and appreciate a lot: Ronny Pinazza and ABSIS.
