With the 42th episode we finalise the seventh series of SALON. To close this series in style we’ve invited the South-Korean artist Cobahn who recently relocated to the Netherlands. With her deep and ritualistic sound Cobahn manages to guide her listeners in a meditative state of mind. With this ability it’s no surprise that she has been strongly associated with Vurt where she shared the line ups with many other amazing artists.

We asked Cobahn what she wants to translate with this mix, about she had the following to say:

“When I'm working on music, I like to set a certain atmosphere or story for each project. In this mix, I tried to capture a mental journey that explores the subconscious that is happening deep inside my mind. With sounds that inspired me recently I aimed for a soundscape of chaos, distortion, transformation, and various abstract emotions intertwined in darkness and light.”

Embodiment 042 - Cobahn

The creativity of Forest On Stasys is Influenced by tribal minimalist techno in the nineties and the deepest and most abstract techno currently. In his tracks the most seductive elements are the use of resonant basses perfectly combined with long and reverberated pads, extensive sonorous landscapes that are modified by continuous movement of LFO, solid grooves and strident percussions.

But not everything that comes out of his head is created with an intention to be used on the dance floor. He has a great admiration for drone and ambient tracks, without a rhythmic pattern that predominates, where the main factor is to captivate the listener with melodies that can be marked by a strong melancholy or with notes that give a certain feeling of satisfaction depending on his current mood.

At the beginning of 2019, he released his first  work 'A Vision Of Light' in Danza Nativa, where currently he is one of the pillars of the label based in Buenos Aires.

Without aiming to master the rules or impose a message through his sets, Oreste draws inspiration from fragments of memories, places, and sensations, shaping an ethereal and introspective aesthetic. Early on, the need to fuel his curiosity through art led him to discover the infinite depth of ambient electronic music. A member of Emerald Garden, he creates intuitively and spontaneously, letting the unexpected guide his process.

December's full moon brings the last Selene Series mix of the year. Our 53rd selection wraps up a special year, in which we have had the opportunity to share countless musical adventures. We want to take this opportunity to send a heartfelt 'thank you' to all the artists that have been part of the Selene Series universe: those that contributed to 'The Continuum', those that released music we played in our mixes, and those that made us dream and dance on the dancefloor.  

For the year's closer we chose a sound that, although has been around for years already, we feel has definitely stepped up as a big reality in the 'deep and psychedelic music' realm. Some call it half-time, others tribe, other grey area... but this sound reaches beyond those labels. It picks from breaks, drum and bass, and it is infused with squelchy, wiggly sound design. Some interpret it as fast, some interpret it as, thus the name, half-time. The dancer decides. This sound is as relevant as ever, and we thought there was no better way to finish 2024.

'Hue Rain' is the first track of my new album: Field Recordings – 06 Vietnam

Recorded in Vietnam on March 2024 and composed in Rotterdam, it blends field recordings of rituals and daily life with drones and layered textures derived from them. 
This new episode continues my journey of exploring places through sound.
