HEARPOD #49 - 9claws

The SXDNS Takeover series, promoted by the rising & charming German platform Sexy Dinosaur From Outer Space, reaches its second episode; this time landing on the respected Spanish label Espacio Cielo. Leonor, Back From The Wave, Duncan Gray, and Moo Moonster & Parissior, some of the most seminal artists amid the Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene, provided four splendid cuts for the compilation.

Mexico-born, France-based Leonor kicks off the VA with "Noise", a mind-blowing trip to the Middle East, heavily infused with exotic percussive elements and thick acid layers. Also hailing from France, Back From The Wave brings the game to his turf with "Girls", a frenzied and intense synth extravaganza with a plethora of beautiful arpeggios. Then comes none other than British Duncan Gray and his world & galaxy-wide famous extremely-acid sonority with "Grappler". The grand finale comes from the Spanish hands of the label boss himself, Parissior, and his partner in crime, Moo Moonster, who teamed up to deliver "Fairlight", a hellish and energetic dance floor filler.

Despite the challenges and weirdness of the year, boundary-blazing bandoleros Duro (@durolabel) continue to shoot through 2020, all-pistols-blazing. Releases have fired from all corners but one of the strongest themes has been the ‘Muy Duro’ volumes. The Mexican label’s flagship V/A series, each EP digs deep into the dark disco psyche, celebrating the label’s widest sonic outposts and reference points with friends and shared spirits from across the world, old and new. Marking a year of the series, with tracks from Israel to Istanbul, ‘Muy Duro Volume 5’ is certainly no exception.

Veteran cosmic groover Tim Paris makes his long-awaited debut with the slouching funk and broken drum swagger of ‘Better Slightly Unchanged’ before two more collaborations join the party with their Duro debuts, all hailing from Israel; Middle Sky Boom and AckerMan whisk us through the stars on ‘Temp Goes High’ while Rina X Benji pay homage to mind alteration on the electroid bumps and asteroid grinds of ‘Koshmaro’.

Professional belly dancers and long-time friends of Duro Hanzo & Yaman follow with ‘Hokus Pokus’. A springy, playful slab of house music laced with pitched bells and a riser that teases and teases, there’s a late 90s/early 200s mischief to this that, like the label itself, just won’t quit. 

The final word comes from the label bossman Theus Mago (@theusmago) and French brother-in-arms Id!r (@idir-wm)… And that word is techno. Deep bleeps and endless pulsations, ‘Soft Light’ is an epic moment of pure late night hedonism that sits somewhere between Bobby Peru and Plastikman. Blazing boundaries and still fully loaded, the Duro bandoleros keep on shooting.

Based in Spain, Espacio Cielo is an Independent music label fusing sounds of the 80s into futuristic danceable tracks. Espacio Cielo refers to the full vastness, the infinite, and the eternal. Heaven marks the beginning, the end, and most importantly, the path. A path marked by eternal analog synthesizers, such as JUNO's or classic digital DX7’s, playing in harmony, creating a cosmic elevation experience.

Under direction of label boss, Parissior, together with a team of creative Dance Music Industry professionals, they bring an outer world UFO thematic. Dark Disco, Acid House, Slow Techno, Italo, EBM, Synthwave and other danceable electronic styles, is what you will find, wrapped up in a cosmic vibe.
