Playground (@playgroundrecords)is releasing a very special compilation to celebrate nine years of life. A musical journey shared with dear friends, which expresses the living history of the label from its origins to the present. From the first illegal raves in Buenos Aires, to becoming an international artist's platform based in Barcelona. A long process of learning, growth and consolidation have passed. Nowadays, with an extensive catalog of more than 40 references Playground has a solid story to tell, always selecting an eclectic criterion and betting on diversity. Each launch reaffirms the commitment with an aesthetic freedom beyond any label.
The ‘9 Years Compilation’ faithfully expresses our history, but above all our present, always with an eye looking to the future. 15 new original tracks carefully chosen to create a polychromatic musical adventure, with diverse nuances and intensities. From downtempo songs to listen at home, through music inspired by the new wave, the creative force of the jungle, the power of organic elements and psychedelic experimentation to the most convincing music for the club.

The SXDNS Takeover series, promoted by the rising & charming German platform Sexy Dinosaur From Outer Space, reaches its second episode; this time landing on the respected Spanish label Espacio Cielo. Leonor, Back From The Wave, Duncan Gray, and Moo Moonster & Parissior, some of the most seminal artists amid the Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene, provided four splendid cuts for the compilation.

Mexico-born, France-based Leonor kicks off the VA with "Noise", a mind-blowing trip to the Middle East, heavily infused with exotic percussive elements and thick acid layers. Also hailing from France, Back From The Wave brings the game to his turf with "Girls", a frenzied and intense synth extravaganza with a plethora of beautiful arpeggios. Then comes none other than British Duncan Gray and his world & galaxy-wide famous extremely-acid sonority with "Grappler". The grand finale comes from the Spanish hands of the label boss himself, Parissior, and his partner in crime, Moo Moonster, who teamed up to deliver "Fairlight", a hellish and energetic dance floor filler.

Bonkers Records (@bonkersrecs) are back with the second volume of their VA series 'Oddness'. It comes with a bunch of new artists to bring you delightful music, from the strangest to the most psychedelic and experimental stuff. 

This ride continues with "Fly Inside" is the final result of the sound fusion between the Mexican producer Armendariz (@armendarizmx) and Argentinian Live performer Cali Burton (@caliburton).

Psychedelic synthesizers and guitars with a lot of character, inviting us to explore within ourselves, they take us on an introspective musical journey.

We are used to know Nothing Is Real records as a meeting point for different touches of electronic music, with an open mind on new sounds and a strong connection to the disco/indie roots at the same time.
NIR018 perfectly reflects this character: the EP is signed by the French Joe Lewandowski, an artist that came from rock music as a guitarist in various local Parisian bands, landed later on house and techno, acid and disco areas after he moved to New York.
What makes the main production “Naturale” pretty unique is the bpm slowdown, it makes for sure a great tension on the build up before the drop, so simple and so effective.
“Late at night” has a classic 707 drums groove with a shiny nervous and mystic voice on the top, served with a rolling bass that gives the track a perfect move.
On “Soft Machine” you can clearly notice the rock/indie background of Joe, slow tempo/hyper groove and a super catchy finger bass, arpeggios on top guide the flow during the track.
Last but not least, is “Naturale - Transcendentale Version” by the giant Danish producer Kasper Bjørke. He makes his debut on NIR with a hypnotic rework on the original from Lewandowski with a dreamy pad and his ultra recognizable drum groove.

Hailing from Munich, Alemao has been on the road for quite some time now. In his more-than-a-decade-long journey, he has not only lived but also rocked the boat in many European cities, always focusing on delivering high-quality dance-floor-oriented electronic music without respecting boundaries when it comes to fusing and twisting his many an influence. Cosmic Afro, Cosmic Disco, Trance, House, Techno… everything he has ever got in touch with is there, somehow, in his still not abundant but creative output.

In his debut on Quixotical Records, the cool Vilnius/Buenos Aires-based label steered by Poulper (SXDNS146/FREEDL028) and Aurum Miles, his “Rawheit” EP proves the point and showcases the capabilities of the skilled artist. On the remix duties, Favio Inker, Rem's Martinez (SXDNS108), and Yellowteeth.

The track we were solicited to review/premiere pays a tribute to the groove. In French, not in German as expected, though. “Et Boum! C'Est Le Groove”, despite a certain minimalistic atmosphere, gathers many elements that enrich the theme. Arpeggiated synth layers, ominous stabs, rhythmic leads, and percussive elements get seamlessly together to deliver a hefty and well-constructed cut.

Plastician and Spanish production starlet Juche link up for a unique and fun take on Juche's previously released "eNight" track. Repackaging the release is a new version from Plastician, which strips back much of the original's Trance roots to give it a more subtle and UK approach. He reached out to Juche after hearing the original on shuffle whilst driving, and constantly humming a 2 step drum beat in his head - a few months down the line and here we are listening to his UK Garage inspired version of a Trance track. Unlike anything we've released before, we're excited to see how this one translates!

I am breathing electronic music since late 70s and that's over 45 years now. From Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Yazoo, Alphaville, Men without Hats, Nitzer Ebb, Die Krupps, Front 242, Anne Clark, Camouflage, Gary Numan, OMD, Apopytygma Berzerk and even the Commodore 64 demo & break dance scene to more contemporary Electronic music artists, I witnessed the evolution of Electronic music, which basically means I am an old fart and consider myself an authority in this music genre 😵 Currently I listen DnB almost exclusively. But I do not like to restrict myself at all, enjoying flavors like Electronica, Trance, Psytrance, Tech House, Dubstep, Deep House, Future Pop, Trap, Techno, UK Bass and of course EBM/Industrial as well.

What you will find in my likes and playlists is the top of the crop in Electronic Music, I will  absolutely not list any bullshit. A track I have not listed might be just that: Bullshit, just mediocre or an artistic gem which I haven't discovered yet.
