Modern Friend are a Montreal, Canada-based duo consisting of Voytek Korab (formerly of My Favorite Robot) and Kosta Megalos (formerly of Flowers and Sea Creatures). The new project dives back into each of their early influences of post-punk and synthwave sounds which were musical movements that heavily influenced their formative years.

Having been greatly involved in the underground electronic music scene for many years, this is their first foray into the type of music that they always wanted to write. “Someone’s Gotta Save Us” is a post-punk electronica number, all-encompassing of the times we are in.

Andy Toth, co-founder and former member of the Detroit Grand Pubahs remixes the track and flips it into an electro stomper. Korab’s smooth vocals get turned into a robotic twitchy funk, the guitars become replaced with acid-tinged synths, and an overall thump is added to the drums to make it ready for the clubs. Pure, aural filth with this remix in the absolute best of ways.

The Andy Toth remix of Modern Friend’s “Someone’s Gotta Save Us” is released October 31st, 2025 on Permaculture.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal 2005 album Staring Into Space, Glaswegian duo Silicone Soul present a Darkroom Dubs reissue featuring two pivotal remixes that helped define the album’s legacy.

Leading the charge is Ewan Pearson’s electrifying remix of The Poisoner’s Diary — a masterclass in sonic transformation. Pearson channels raw new wave urgency into the original, fusing its proto-dark disco leanings with climactic synth flourishes and machine-gun claps. The result marked a creative breakthrough for Pearson and added a defining edge to Silicone Soul’s catalogue, foreshadowing the darker aesthetic that would come to shape European dancefloors.

The vocal version adds another layer of intensity with the haunting delivery of Stuart Gray (from Glasgow indie band Viva Stereo). His stark post-punk refrains narrate a chilling gothic tale of emotional unravelling — an allegory for love’s collapse.

Adding further weight to this anniversary package, Berlin’s Dirt Crew deliver a powerful rework of Inferno. Amplifying the original's deep dub foundations, they lay down an irresistible Italo-disco bassline while framing the timeless toast — 'What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul?’ The result is a remix that balances spiritual gravitas with dancefloor intensity, a reminder of Dirt Crew’s signature touch during their own breakthrough years.

These remixes have been lovingly remastered by Conor Dalton (Glowcast Audio) from the original DATs, giving DJs, collectors, and new listeners a fresh chance to experience two standout reinterpretations from the Silicone Soul archive. Twenty years on, they remain as vital as ever.

Pempsey, a London based, Chester-born DJ with a passion for all things Italo Disco joins the Feincast series.

He has been carving his space within the UK's underground disco scene since 2019, supporting the likes of Hot Chip, Crazy P, and Melon Bomb.

His styles range from high-energy nu-disco and house, to chuggy italo and groovy indie dance.Honing his craft across several London radio stations, including Shoreditch Radio and AAJA, Pempsey has been a resident on Voices Radio in London for over two years. He has showcased his talents at iconic London clubs like Ministry of Sound and Hackney's 'Night Tales.'
Pempsey is also a member of the disco collective Disco Exotic, and co-runs his own brand 'The Leisuredome' where he showcases the Italo, cosmic/dark disco, and indie dance tastes to East and South London.

With his debut Feincast, he starts with slower cosmic grooves that build and crescendo into chuggy euphoria.

'Hyperstellar returns to Bordello A Parigi with a nocturnal and deeply magnetic EP. In For a Flash captures the fleeting beauty of a moment stolen from the night, the tension of a glance that will never return, the sensation of having loved inside a dream. The record carves out a singular aesthetic through new wave, shady atmospheres, and early electronic influences.

The eponymous track, In For a Flash, opens the record like a sudden vision: a burst of light in the dark, propulsive, yet already fading. From its fatalist urgency to the longing of The Dance We Never Had, each piece suggests a different facet of the same mirage. Surrender unfolds like a slow implosion, a toxic war between release and control, while L’Amour sur Saturne drifts endlessly in a suspended space, like a tale where the impossible is still imagined.

Influenced as much by Burial as by New Order, the solitude of classical composers or eccentric glam rock acts, Hyperstellar continues to build his artistry on numbers, and intimate constellations.'

The French, Lyon-based artist Betty launches her own label Girls of the night (GOTN) and makes her debut as a solo producer after several tracks in the duo Nouveau Futur and behind the decks as a DJ. Now stepping out on her own, she takes full creative control to shape an emotional, analog-driven sound. Her first EP, Shadows and Lights, marks the beginning of this new chapter — blending club energy with shadowy 80s -inspired atmospheres.

Between light and darkness, Shadows and Lights explores the tension between desire and detachment, movement and stillness. Inspired by the sound of the 80s, Betty (FR), sculpts analog landscapes where emotions drift in slow motion, shaped by the warmth of a Jupiter and the ethereal harmonies of an Emulator. The EP features three tracks — three variations on melancholy, rhythm, and memory.

🌓 LIGHT
Opening the EP, Light sets the tone with a dark disco groove built for the dancefloor. A hypnotic bassline, glimmering yet shadowed synths, and ghostly choirs create a magnetic, physical track where the light pulses through the dark — suspended somewhere between night’s tension and dawn’s promise.

🌑 LOVE DIES (vocal)
Slowing the tempo down, Love dies dives into a more introspective wave. A deep bass rumbles beneath shimmering cymbals, then the electric guitar strikes in sync with the heavy, pounding kick, igniting the song’s raw pulse. Betty’s voice rises — hypnotic, sensual, slightly disembodied — surrounded by layered choirs that unfold like memories. Analog textures, metallic echoes, and lush synths craft a cinematic, melancholic atmosphere, echoing the romantic shadows of the eighties.

🌘 LOVE DIES (instrumental) :
The final track strips away the vocals, revealing the structure underneath — a hypnotic instrumental version where synths and guitar intertwine like fragments of a forgotten soundtrack.
