The age of sonic medicine continues to unfold in the shape of Poranguí and Liquid Bloom’s landmark curative music collection, ‘Kuya Sessions: Cura.’ Created as an aural container for the cutting-edge frontiers of psychedelic-assisted therapy, this extrasensory journey invites listeners to cross the threshold into the realm of shadow and light, uniting the principles of indigenous wisdom, plant medicine, and holistic psychology with the world-bridging potential of cinematic sound design.

Designed for Kuya, a state-of-the-art health clinic in Austin, TX that is incorporating paradigm-shifting therapeutics, integrative psychiatry, and regenerative medicine into a visionary approach to trauma processing and healing, ‘Cura’ offers seekers a soundtrack for their journeys toward rebalancing, and is now lovingly shared with listeners everywhere on behalf of Kuya and producers Amani Friend and Poranguí.

Embedded with the sonic signature of the world’s oldest musical lineages and enhanced with field recordings and samples from across the globe, ‘Kuya Sessions: Cura’ is best experienced in its “Journey Mix” format, where the boundaries between movements are as ephemeral as the voyage itself. In preparation for embarking on this ritualistic path, one is invited to create an environment for inner-exploration with the help of a quiet and darkroom, headphones, an eye mask, and an intention of healing and discovery. 

The first installment in this four-part release series, ‘Cura’ draws upon a grounding array of instruments, vocalizations, and therapeutic musical stylings while showcasing Poranguí and Amani Friend’s tenacity for surreal, multi-dimensional sound. Distilled from the intention of providing listeners a path toward healing and a safe space from which to embark on that odyssey, ‘Kuya Sessions: Cura’ will continue to reveal itself with each subsequent visit for all who desire its therapeutic guidance.

This is the “single eye of the heart," the third eye or wisdom eye of the ancients--the shaman's eye. It is the place where the individual soul attunes to the collective, universal heartbeat that unites us all.

Shaman's Eye brims with multi-layered currents of sound and chanting woven around a steady stream of theta rhythms. These provocative rhythms are designed to tap into our own ancestral depths and call us into the secret worlds of trance. Each of these musical landscapes is alive with its own distinctive spirit energy. As they carry us forward they become the vehicle for our journeys.

In the true spirit of musical alchemy, Amani Friend blends his technical skills with his innate understanding of the power of sound and vibration to heal and transform. With deep reverence, he weaves the strands of pan-global percussive and melodic expressions, sacred chants, and the atmospheres of nature around the steady heartbeat of trance to inspire inner journeys.

On November 3rd Desert Trax presents Ayahuasca Remixed from Brazilian-born artist Poranguí Carvalho McGrew, translated and remixed through the lenses of visionary producers like Shamans Dream,AtYyA, Drumspyder, Kaminanda,Liquid Bloom, Numatik, Yaima, and many others. These 11 tracks were born from a prayer to bridge worlds from the consciousness of the master plant medicine onto the dance floor. It came to life through the meeting and friendship with musician and producer Sahuna Love (Shaman's Dream), and blossomed with the help of Amani Friend (Desert Dwellers & Desert Trax). Each song weaves the medicine of the original, while beckoning listeners to explore and express their prayers or meditations through embodied movement. For Amani Friend and his Liquid Bloom project, the Re:Generations mixes are a gift that keeps on giving. First remixed by AtYyA, who took on the entire album by himself, now an all-star cast of subsonic wizards from around the globe are putting their own spin on these intoxicating tunes. 

Stars of the psychedelic world like Hedflux and Land Switcher pump thrilling bass into “Roots of the Earth”and “Fire Gathering,” respectively. Kaminanda takes “Sacred Blessing” on a more than 11-minute epic journey. Numatik ignites new life into Fire Gathering .Suduaya, Momentology, Salis, and Nanosphere run the gamut from rich, organic strings and ethereal voices to dark, brooding, and bellowing sub bass covering the spectrum from delicate, ambience to pounding grooves. TRIBONEonce again remixes Deya Dova for a Desert Trax release, and Erothyme closes out the collection with a sprawling anthem of lush sounds.
