It’s quite a well known concept ਕੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੌਤ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕੀਤਾ
(Shaheeds have married death)

Shaheed Singhs and Singhnia have - in essence - already married themselves to progressing the panth - and doing whatever it takes (attaining shaheedi) for the bhalla (benefit) of the Panth

Maharaj Kirpa, today we sing the pehli laav in loving memory of those Singhs and Singhnia who not only gave their life for Sikhi, but they did that ardaas, that may I come back again and again until the Khalsa is free

For all those who gave and continue to give kurbaniyaa (sacrifices) for our Panth
