Berlin-based imprint Get Physical continues to enhance it's role as a tastemaker with the latest VA from the label taking the time to shine a light on the impressively developing South African music scene. The compilation, mixed byRyan Murgatroyd brings together a delightful ensemble of talent including the likes of Black Coffee, Bruce Loko, Thor Rixon and Floyd Lavin.

Additionally, Murgatroyd (Innervisions,  Defected) returns to Get Physical to provide 'Kanna' for the occasion. The Cape Town native has crafted a supreme piano-laden groover that we simply cannot get enough of. Check it out in full premiere below. The sixteen track compilation is set for release on March 3rd.

Marquis Hawkes continues to supply quality, disco-infused house with ‘The Basement is Burning’ EP on AUS Music, featuring the euphoric and energetic title track.

It’s no surprise Marquis Hawkes is right at home on AUS Music, having released a collection of the label’s top EPs in the past two years, including ‘Chances’, ‘Doornroosje’ and ‘Love Precipitation’. Now he’s set to drop his second release on the imprint in 2017, showcasing more of his soulful and emotive material. 

‘The Basement is Burning’ leads off with a warm piano melody paired with a steady house beat which leads into a crescendo of blissful strings and synth. It’s interesting to note that the track was inspired by a distressing event in which his home caught fire and his family had to be rescued from a fifth floor balcony. Once he and his family were safe, Hawkes had to dash across Berlin to make it to a live show at 10am. A few days later, ‘The Basement is Burning’ was born.

‘The Basement is Burning’ EP is set for release May 26.

Every now and again the good folk at Monaberry invite their eldest family chief, Grandpa Herbert, around for a spiritual sonic powwow. A chance to galvanise the forces and energies that have become the label’s signature over the years, these collections have become a Monaberry tradition. And this is its seventh…

Label founders Super Flu take the lead with ‘Bebey Love 1’; a mystic moment of deep desert hypnosis, calling and responding to its own momentum. It’s followed by ‘Handmade’, a spiralling, foot-stamping tribal slice of cosmosis from new friend and MoBlack affiliate Sobek. Deeper again we strike ‘Urban Linien’ from label lifer CIOZ; a hip-slinking late night narrative laced with deep dreams and psychedelic flourishes, things take a serious level-up from four minutes in.

Chapter 24 associate JOBE follows with a similarly lavish yarn ‘Maasai’. Subtly theatrical and laced with nuances of dark bass and a restrained sense of theatre, it’s doesn’t so much as grab your attention but arrests it and gives it a life sentence. He’s followed by old Monaberry flame Ole Biege who brings the ‘Heat’ in every sense. Strutting on a sweet shuffle and gently paced with beautiful piano chords and a sultry vocal, its borderline spiritual in its allure and sets us up perfectly for brick-talking MUYLA who makes a swift return from his recent label debut with the moody marching safari ‘Hamune’.

Finally Bebetta and Douglas Greed bring this life-affirming chapter to an end. The former delivers a stunning slab of subversion in the form of ‘Gattara’ which balances spine-melting arpeggios and warm, bouncy bass. The latter takes us right back to the source with ‘Arpo33’, a trance-tinged hair-raiser that’s powered by a cathedral-like lead that doesn’t promise new dimensions… It guarantees them.

Eight inspiring journeyman adventures from eight of Monaberry’s firmest friends and most kindred spirits. No one picks them like Opa Herbert. Less old school, more vintage university, it’s detailed excursions like these that keep the old timer alive. Long may they continue…

The electronic Music project from the French born artist Michel Saurin, also know as the name of " TIME ".
Coming from a jazz background and playing drums / percussion for the last 20 years,
Michel is based in the smoothing landscapes of the French Provence, where he was born.
His spiritual approach of life , added to a search of  specifics healing frequencies  led him to create  resonant uplifting productions , and sets as a DJ and performer ,
a true musical journey , exploring emotional textures with deep and percussive grooves.

Following the success of his single « NOT ALONE », highly supported by SOLOMUN (BPM 2017), Lee Burridge, Phonique and The Scumfrog amongst many others,
ESSENCE OF TIME released « BIRD » in July 2017, Picked up by the very respected Kitsuné team, it went viral and got charted #3 on the Deutsche Club Charts. This track is a tribute to the jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker aka « Bird », a big band theme built around brass harmonies and driven tech-house rhythmics gives this track a unique summer flavor.

ESSENCE OF TIME's talent drew AGORIA's attention, who signed « OASIS », (an excellent hypnotic and melodic single co- produced with Villanova) on his label Sapiens. Following this studio collaboration, TIME & Villanova decided to create LKF PROJECT and released their first EP « URUBU » in May 2018 on AGORIA s Sapiens records, followed in 2019 by 2 singles , “BODY” on AZZUR records , and “TONGUE TIED” on ATLANT records,  including remixes by BOG, Edu Imbernon and duo Innellea, releases supported by many names
( ÂME , Dixon , Solomon , &ME , Claptone , Sandrino, Adam Port …)

In solo, TIME keeps on producing the music he loves to play behind the decks, touring Asia and Europe. This past summer, he performed FAMILY PIKNIK FESTIVAL in Montpellier, along with Patrice Bäumel, Kittin, Marco Carola, Hot Since 82... This great experience opened to a new collaboration with the festival’s label Family Piknik Music, who used ‘KEYS OF GODS’ in its official video aftermovie. It gained much attention from this exposure and Family Piknik Music asked TIME to release this track on Family Piknik Music. No matter where and when, TIME has just begun to move your lives with tremendous House Music, defining him as one of the freshest French talents to have in your radar...
