This mix is a true labor of love! This bun has actually of been in the oven since last fall and now it’s almost summertime (whoopsies lol). I definitely dragged my feet on this one because I had a clear vision of what I wanted the end result to be and very high expectations to make the dream reality. An hour+ mix of DISCO: nu disco, disco house, cosmic take me to your leader vibes, nods and salutes to the foundational underground of yesteryear, funk by starlight, early-mid 80s digital liquid bass lines, Disco Divatron 3000 circa 1978, with a sprinkle of Xanadu on top. I'm pleasantly surprised I satisfied myself with how the musical narrative turned out - a sonic love letter to disco. I hope you enjoy the ride through disco heaven!

Voted 48 Hills’ 2022 Best DJ in the Bay, their unique blend of disco, house, club, and RnB ushers a journey through the history and movement of Black queer dance music. Charles believes you can’t trust a DJ that doesn’t dance, and their movement, energy, and connection behind the decks are a testament to that. The proof is in the pudding, honey! 

Charles is one half of Quaint But Extra and a resident and curator for Rollin With The Homos and HomeBase: Oakland. Charles is also a drug educator, facilitator, and consultant in harm reduction.

J Boogie opens up the mixtape vaults for a 2003 vintage. Recorded literally live in his bedroom, this pre-serato mix of dub, downtempo, reggae, soul and instrumentals features members of Dubtronic Science jamming on sitar, flute and sax. Guest dread master Tony Moses toasts it up nicely as JB dubs out the turntables.

J Boogie's Dubtronic Science Live in The Bedroom was a classic mix only available at live shows or on Haight St. at Red 5, True & Amoeba. Or maybe you stole it from your girl. Or maybe you traded for a copy of Live on the Dancefloor. Enjoy!
