The village was deafly silent, you could barely hear a pin drop or a murmured whisper echo through the streets. Nothing happened in this god forsaken place anymore. Many, if not all, had left for other climes or intrepid adventures. They'd abandoned everything, in search of something better. Those that remained were intent on making their move soon. They knew the next chapter would be greater than this one. But then again, the grass is always greener... 

Paris-based Motordiscs, conceived by the team behind late nightclub Garage, set a pretty high bar when they launched their label earlier this year with a four tracker VA featuring an all star cast of artists: Khidja, Zombies In Miami, Curses and Kasper Bjørke. Their second helping is no different. This time they've locked in contributions from Sascha Funke, Modular Project, Massimiliano Pagliara and our pick from Concret & Cantor, a heads down cut driven by synths, atmospheric guitar licks and squiggly acid lines.

Founded in 2015 by a utopian team hungry for new adventures and passionate about electronic music, A Table first set about organizing events in an abandoned club in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Going from success to success the A Table events grew and they associated further clubs across Switzerland, however it wasn’t until they established their HQ at the “Case à Chocs” that A Table became a recognised organization on the electronic music scene. By inviting recognized artists such as Marvin & Guy, Moscoman. Rodriguez Jr., Myd, &me and Curses they confirmed their eclectic, hedonistic and audacious tastes in electronic music.
In 2019 everything took off : A Table created an eponymous record label to promote their vision of electronic music to a wider audience, led by a team sharing the same goals, ambitions and emotions.
“An elegant ode to persistent enrichment and attainable dreams” this is how A Table defines the first single on their label. While the rhythmic instruments set the Hi-Energy beat with a throbbing base, a guitar transcends the harmony with finely balanced symmetry. Adeus Vida De Merda is over 9 minutes of amazing motivation, inspiration and intensity.

Valentine's Day 2020 will be a special one for Nein Records who serve up a new EP from Italian-born, London-based DJ and producer Dario Dea with remixes from Theus Mago and Steady State.

Steady State is a mysterious production project about which nothing is known. They serve up a more introverted take on 'Dance of the Sea' that is awash with lush pads and chords and journeys to the stars on a more dreamy vibe.

Celestino - Infinite Improbability Drive [Nuff]

The cars headlights shone forward, creating a glowing path for the vehicle to follow. Tranquil darkness blanketed the bland scenery that surrounded the path, an antithesis of the frenetic thoughts going through the driver's head. Every so often he would pass another car, quickly leaving it behind, while the rolling desert hills, which he could barely make out against the night sky, passed him in shadowy waves. The driver pressed harder on the accelerator. He wasn't going to slow down. He was going to strike back.

Following last year's The Untold Story of Del Fierro EP, Tel Aviv producers Niv Ast & Eliezer release Del Fierro Strikes Back, the third release on their label New Day Everyday. The four tracks showcase a perfect blend of 80s synths, tense beats and Italo flavours, with Isadora, ALF CHAMPION, and Adrien Albou lending their vocal talents on three of the four tracks.

Catz N' Dogz underground outlet STEP is well known for giving space to some of the most eclectic artists to showcase their infinite talents. The label so far has released the likes of Baltra, DJ Steaw, Eduardo De La Calle, Analog Roland Orchestra and Panthera Krause to name but a few and this summer is ready to drop yet another huge record, coming from usual suspect Das Komplex.

A little about the release:

UK talent Dan Wainwright drops ‘Rituals’, a three track offering of mutant disco sounds on Night Noise Music backed with a remix from Joe Morris, this June. 

With a catalogue that takes in edits for To Rack and Ruin and Creative Use as well as singles for the likes of Hungarian Hot Wax and Through God’s Own Eyes, Wainwright is steadily becoming a must-check for those who enjoy lower tempo nightclub sounds of a discoid nature and this EP, already given ALFOS approval by Sean Johnston, shows why.

Opening with the anthemic ‘Raindance’, a growling groover characterised with bright, evolving synth hooks and tight delays which culminates in balearic guitar bliss, ‘Rituals’ is a winner straight out of the traps. ‘A Blessing’, a slightly moodier, heads down tunneller follows with a distinctly housey vibe while ‘Ceremony’ treads an altogether headier path with dense layering giving way to ethereal vocals and a punchy, nagging bassline. 

Joe Morris’ Dubwise remix of ‘Rain Dance’ closes out the package in, as the title suggests, nifty dubbed out style.
