Jaxson Free born in Greenwood, South Carolina and raised close to home in cities such as Raleigh and Charlotte North Carolina is an artist on the rise. Inspired by renown artist like Isaiah Rashad and 6lack, Free creatively mixes the melodic sounds of R&B with deep, lyrical Hip-Hop cadences and influence. Jaxson has been consistently growing his brand and expanding his audience by performing at many local Carolina staples such as Motorco Music Hall, k97.5 and Lincoln Theatre. Coming off the release of his second project, “Inkheart 1.5” Free looks forward to working on new music and growing his fanbase.

Hip-hop has expanded and evolved with new sub-genres, styles, and perspectives. However, Hype’s sonic composition is a mix of the current nuance of rap fused with the iconic 90’s sound.

Born in Cameroon, in 1998, Hype was only six years old when his family uprooted to Canada where he spent his pre-adolescent years.

Influences from Lil Wayne's, Tha Carter IV is what led Hype to dabble more into hip-hop. Hearing Kendrick Lamar's, Good Kid, M.A.D.D City in 2012 is when it really clicked. Hype's soulful sound varies depending on what pocket he’s in.
 
He began studying producers such as Kanye West, 9th Wonder, and DJ Premier. Hype started composing and publicly releasing his music in 2018. "The Golden Child” was the first single to go on major streaming platforms launching him as an artist. In early 2019 his first project on streaming platforms , The Quiet Storm which was a 10-track project. Hype relentlessly continued dropping freestyles every week on social media. Consistently growing his fanbase. Shortly after "The Golden Child II" followed, creating a buzz.

On October 24th, 2020, Hype received the co-sign from DJ Premier in NYC after performing “Hype Is Like” a homage to “Nas Is Like” which coincidentally comes to a full circle since it was produced by DJ Premier. The song has been in his weekly tracklist on his SiriusXM show on Shade45 when spoken to DJ Premier, "Live from HeadQCourterz".
