Summer Of Sacol

An 18 month long project born out of the pandemic, Búsqueda was initially an exercise in spontaneity as Erre Ye attempted to break out of a long creative block, trying new techniques and processes. The result is a science-fiction inspired, extraterrestrial journey through darker sounds, brimming with unusual textures and exhilirating twists and turns.

Deep, meditative opener Ilusión Temporal sets the tone for this textural, introspective record. Next up, ‘Ahogo’ is a spaced-out electro work-out with dreamy synths soaring over crushing kicks. Next up the brooding club track ‘El Camino’, portrays a melancholic journey through darker territory. Exploring deconstructed club and IDM is off-kilter body moving track ‘Conocer’. ‘Aparecí’ blends noise and industrial elements with ambient leading into ‘Viaje Al Interior’ - the most stripped-back and lightest track on the record - it’s a shimmering blend of IDM and ambient, paving the way for tonal closer ‘El Próximo Encuentro’. Glassy chimes meet experimental percussives on this glistening last track. Upping the tempo into a frenetic work-out before coming back to ground, here Erre Ye flexes his most experimental hand yet.

This mix is a goodbye letter to my mother to help her start her journey through the universe. 

It has pieces of her life in it to remind her that the pain was only in the end but her life story is not that. It was full of joy, love, laughs, dance, and music.

q. pls introduce yourself
a. Artur / mu tate / mu

q. is there a story behind the mix?
a. it always starts with a few pieces that capture a particular mood or have a distinctive sonic quality that makes me want to build a whole hour of music around. i’m mostly interested in the emotional response that inevitably comes with listening and less so in the production as such. i like to take my time so each mix ends up soundtracking at least a month of my life. here the spoken word bits set the scene, instrumental pieces then try to accentuate and expand on that theme, take it further or in another direction all together. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

q. what’s the best way to enjoy your mix?
a. i mostly record mixes with the idea of home listening since it’s my favourite way to enjoy music. it’s an evening listen rather than morning for this one.

q. describe a favourite object in your living room...
a. a burkhard vogtherr hombre chair that i got off etsy for £70. My favourite thing to sit on and to look at. 

q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)?
a. yes and no. we’re still working on some bits for the recent 3XL/Utter record like physical copies and a video. other than that i’m doing things at a much slower pace, exchanging stems but nothing that i myself plan on showing.

Carlos Rizzi - Cariñito (Ambient Rev)

Carlos Rizzi llega al éter con una selección que transita los límites del ambient y el idm, emergiendo desde la fricción misma del sonido. Lejos de la contemplación pasiva, esta mixtape articula una poética de la distorsión: una herramienta que aquí no embellece, sino que tensa, sugiere fisuras.

La primera mitad está compuesta por piezas inéditas, ensambladas con materiales dispersos y narrativas en estado de formación: bocetos que no buscan completarse, sino sugerir umbrales. Entre ellas, se cuela una colaboración en proceso junto a Las Hermanas, como un eco de lo que aún está gestándose. La segunda parte del mix despliega una cartografía de influencias que han moldeado su escucha reciente, tejidas con sensibilidad y cuidado. El cierre con su track “Policroma”, funciona menos como epílogo y más como umbral de algo por venir: una vibración suspendida que anuncia el pulso de un álbum futuro.
