Fresh from the city of Milan here's Eternal Love (@eternalloveyt) kicking off the week with a fine mix in the slipstream of their 'Ritmomento EP' on Second Circle. Interview (excerpt) below.

MFM: Ciao fratelli! So, can you tell us the story of how Eternal Love came together?

EL: We’re both from Milan but we actually met when Edo was studying in the Netherlands, in Maastricht. At the time, we each had our own nerdy radio shows on different online stations back in Milan. We started sharing music with each other online, and eventually decided to open a YouTube channel called Eternal Love. And for a while, it really worked. It was also the magic era of Red Light Radio, which we were lucky enough to experience twice before it died. Truly magic times for nerdy records lovers.

MFM: As a DJ duo you seem to both play a rather equal role behind the CDJ's. How's that in the studio, is all balanced out there too? Please tell us a bit about your synergy in the lab.

EL: I’d say we’re completely opposite in pretty much everything, hahaha. The way we think, the way we act and of course it shows in how we DJ and produce music too. Fede is way more instinctive… he gets these sudden flash ideas that can totally change the direction of a project. Edo is more reflective: he looks for references, likes to plan ahead, and schedule things a bit more. It’s two very different approaches to music and to life in general but somehow it always works. What we definitely have in common is that we’re not great musicians hahaha… but we’re lucky enough to have amazing friends around us who help put down proper notes and shape our ideas into something real.

MFM: For the 'Ritmomento EP' you've collaborated with Italian-Congolese singer songwriter Leslie Felma. How did your paths meet, and what are the lyrics on the EP about?

EL: This is actually a pretty nice story. At the beginning, we had put in some bad sample vocals, just rough guide ideas, but at some point we knew we wanted to work with a real singer. The problem was that we were really running out of time. So Edo started calling African dance schools around Milan, even African hair salons, trying to find a singer who could come to the studio. And that’s how we met Leslie… the TIGER. She came to Jolly Mare’s studio and told us she wasn’t living her best period health-wise. She said that working together on this project would give her hope and strength to keep fighting. At that point, I guess we had no choice, hahaha but it turned out to be the best possible choice. She’s an amazing singer and we love her.

MFM: Are there any other studio dreams and plans you'd like to talk about?

EL: At the moment we’re working with one of our best friends and long-time collaborator FTC, putting together some proper demos for a project with our Australian brother Caravan. It’s sounding really good - very clubby- and you’ll probably hear it this summer. In the meantime, we’re launching the first original release on our label, Channels Of Love, from our boys Dirty Channels. The single is called Harmony and it’s a banger.

MFM: What can you say about the mix that you've recorded?

EL: To be very honest and at the risk of sounding a bit cheesy or dramatic…this mix means a lot to us. We’ve always been big fans of the label and of all the mixes on this platform. They’ve been the soundtrack to so many moments in our lives: long travels, quiet afternoons at home, nights in love and times shared with so many friends and artists we deeply respect. Our biggest thought goes to Jamie, who I’m sure would have enjoyed the cheesy guitar solos in the mix and who we always think about whenever we proudly look at the record we just released and now also when we listen back to this mix. We miss you.

MFM Mix 058: Eternal Love

Giant Steps in London is definitely a special place to play. People come with an open mind, because the setting is unique. A DIY setup in a bright space in an old bath house. Starting with beanbags to sit, chill and listen (which might have been my favorite part of the day). And a six-point custom sound system that surrounds the dancefloor. Not powerful, but delicate and beautiful. Different from playing on a club system and not easy at times, but it's about creating something alternative/unique. And I think Giant Steps definitely does that well.

I did end up playing more club music than last time. Afterwards, I wished I played some more other stuff that I brought, but that's how it goes sometimes. Still the set goes through different moods, it starts very calm and gentle and hopefully takes you along for a ride. Wonder if anyone will make it through the full 6 hours :)

(We first listened to some albums in full, which I've partially cut from the recording, but the rest is all there. The recording is somewhat distorted, but hopefully you still find it enjoyable to listen to)
