Introducing Fate: A brand new label from Hungary’s finest drum & bass export Chris.SU.

Having destroyed floors for years with his gritty grooves on labels such as Subtitles, Commercial suicide, Bad Taste and Spearhead, he’s decided to take fate into his own hands… Literally.

Launching with a precision statement of intent, this release carefully balances consistency with variety. Showcasing the label’s remit while reminding us just how sharp he is in the studio, across two tracks Chris.SU has created a special vibe that hints at a very promising future for Fate… And he’s done so with two old sonic compatriots – Mira and State Of Mind.

Following their critically acclaimed work together on last year’s ‘Higher’, ‘Together In The Night’ sees Chris recruit the stunning vocals of Mira once again. Armed with complementary styles, Chris’s undulating waves of subtle bass fluctuate beneath Mira’s emphatic, emotionally rich delivery. Heightened further by shimmering, arpeggios and star-gazing synths, it’s a quintessential dreamy dynamic. Expect nothing but hugs, blissed out faces and perhaps a few smooches on your floor when you drop this… Pure rolling romance.

‘The Burning’ ensures we’re not too caught up in the emotional side of the dance: a tag-team with old New Zealand friends State Of Mind, it’s a crisp, techy message of menace. After an opening salvo of icy, cosmic synths and spine-shuddering prayer calls we’re thrown head first into the gnarly bass drop that rifles its way along with turbo-charged tenacity, switching into longer drone flexes on the fills for added excitement. The breakdown strips back the elements succinctly to just one powerful synth, giving the second drop even more impact. Make no mistakes, this is pure nocturnal naughtiness.

‘Ten Years of Med School’ celebrates the plethora of talent to have emerged over the past decade showcasing snapshots of the imprint’s most memorable releases alongside hints of an even brighter future. Originally the understated sister label of Hospital Records, Med School is now a standalone soldier playing a significant role in electronic music, scouring every hidden corner of drum & bass and beyond.

The release showcases 18 brand new and exclusive tracks, including some stunning remixes of the label’s finest moments. Ivy Lab lead Etherwood’s uplifting ‘We’re Nothing Without Love’ down a more ominous path while Kimyan Law strips down Royalston’s drum crazy ‘Jungle Gone Down’. Frederic Robinson injects a cloud-like bounce into Keeno’s ‘Nocturne’ and Bop gives ‘Pray’ by The Erised a stunning 170bpm rework.

The album also features a host of new creations and collaborations. Etherwood and Royalston prove that opposites attract on ‘Eyes On Me’ which brilliantly combines subtle, soulful overtones with a dark, metallic allure. Newest Med School recruit Whiney presents the deep, melancholic magic of ‘Nightfall’ while label veteran Lung returns with the energetic ‘To Infinity & Be Gone’. Our artist led Hospital Mixtape series continues! Over the years, S.P.Y has become one of the most well-respected producers and DJs in the game with an astute ear for the crispest, deepest and darkest drum & bass. T

S.P.Y’s sets are consistently crammed with the highest quality selections, which hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2015 he was chosen to present the prestigious BBC Radio 1 Essential mix for Pete Tong and subsequently joined Annie Mac at her BBC Radio 1 stage at Glastonbury Festival.

A DJ in high demand, S.P.Y has spent the last year touring the globe from USA to Canada, Australia to New Zealand. Last summer he took to the stage at Bestival, Sun & Bass, EDC and Tomorrow World! Yet around his crowded schedule he’s found the time to delve deep in his record box and pull together 31 standout tracks of the moment.

He’s got his hands dirty getting hold of 15 previously unreleased tracks from the likes of Logistics, Dub Elements, Anile, Whiney and Random Movement. His hard work continues with three brand new S.P.Y productions ‘Take Control’, ‘Second Encounter’ and ‘Silent Wave’. The composition is made for a compilation on Life And Death, focusing on the types of music, which the artists on that record usually don`t produce. I was recording that track during a late night chilling with my friends. The bell sounds were recorded from the glasses with cold drinks we were having that night. You need a good bass response on your soundsystem, to fully enjoy the track.
