Hello and welcome to the 23rd episode of the Karismatik Podkast! Our guest this week is @bentovmusic, who’s originally from Israel and now living and loving life in Cape Town, South Africa. Not one to pigeonhole himself into one style, Ben Tov traverses the BPMs and moods, and focuses on telling a story through progression in his melodic productions. He spends much of his time locked away in his studio, carving out his deep signature analog synth-lines and grooves. With a slew of releases already under his belt, and constant releases on labels such as Katz and Kautz and Deeplomatic. His latest track was released on Harabe Recordings’ Nightmares II, which was compiled by Elif and climbed the Beatport charts.

The Karismatik Podkast 50 - SEIUN

DJ, producer, and label manager, @jameskameran is originally from the UK and currently living the island life on Ibiza. He has played at all of Ibiza’s leading venues, including residencies at Space and Privilege as well as playing at the iconic venues such as Pacha and Hi. He also plays regularly for Ibiza Global Radio, Ibiza Sonica and Pure Ibiza Radio. 

His sets feature different styles of house music, from downtempo through to deep melodic techno. 

In 2010 James launched Rogue Recordings, which received support from some of the planets finest DJs, including Marco Carola and Laurent Garnier. In 2020 Karma Vida Recs was launched, which showcases a more deep, nomadic style of Organic and Afro House. 
Along with this new label project, James’ new artistic alter ego was born, with name ‘Kamran’.

Daniel Steinfels' Interpretation | 28

Born and raised in Curitiba, southern Brazil, Victor Chico has been involved with music and art since his teens. Graduated in music production but acting in front of audiovisuals, he already had various bands and electronic music projects before creating his current one titled 'Seletor Chico' which is geared towards low revs and where he clearly presents some sounds that he's been producing and collecting for over 15 years. Even with Brazil’s culture production being so broad, and its traditions so intertwined, somehow Seletor Chico's mosaic of references propelled him to develop a unique style that draws on regional influences and also it takes the opportunity to shed some light on the country’s musical landscape past and present.

Our 193th edition covers almost 64 minutes which were recorded at his home studio located at his house's attic. Seletor Chico is showcasing a truly forward-thinking and respectful celebration of the Brazilian sound, not all-related though, mainly because of the hints from Latin styles. But, gathering several own productions filled up with an instrumental get-down goodness, the Brazilian producer certainly is hailing from an emerging generation in which there is a common attempt to make music different in various ways, celebrating sonorities and realities.
