Q. How would you describe yourself?
A. I'd like to think I'm a music enthusiast who enjoys diving deep into the early "golden" years of dance (and chillout) music.

Q. How long have you been a part of the Melbourne music scene? How did you get involved?
A. I've been playing records around town since about 2006, and started running some parties with a few friends shortly after that, back when electro house and fluro tees were the hottest ticket in town ;) A few years later me and my friend Andy Hart discovered there was this whole other deeper side that we absolutely loved and started the MDC series. Somehow it's still going after all these years!

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. After being locked down for most of this year, I wanted to channel the kind of vibes I would go for if given an opening set outdoors somewhere on a sunny afternoon among friends (hoping this won't be too far away now as things start to open up here!). The mix starts out slow and soulful and gradually picks up the pace with lots of 90s chillers and summery house nostalgia to get you in the mood. Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy!

Juanita's Mix 056: Myles Mac

Started in 2003 by Dj Deep, @deeply_rooted(DRH) is a label featuring artists such as Kerri Chandler, K Alexi, Inner Soul, Marina Trench, Jovonn, Dj Gregory or Ben Klock.

Following my previous Display mix focused on Kerri Chandler, I wanted this time to showcase a label I truly respect and appreciate, which released central part tracks of my electronic music background. 

In this progressive mix, starting with some very North American deep house melodic tracks and going to hard techno + dub techno cuts, I wanted to highlight the extreme versatility of the label artistic choices. Enjoy this very « True to it’s roots » mixtape.

300 mixes! What a journey. Big respect to those still listening since it all began back in the late 2000s, and a warm welcome to those who might just be tuning in for the first of hopefully a few more to come.

Thought it must be about time for another episode from Deepcast HQ, with Myles Mac & DJ Possum back in the mix for a relaxing journey guided by the eternal balearic breeze of the 90s. Two and a half hours of smooth summertime groovers with plenty of vocoders, utopian dream states and moments of total rave nostalgia. Dancefloor chillers for the deeply inclined and/or reclined. This Is est un nouveau format de mixtape où je me focalise sur un artiste ou un label en particulier. On commence avec @alexkassian, évidement.

Alex Kassian est un DJ, producteur et musicien basé à Berlin. Né à Kyoto, il s’est fait un nom dans la scène musicale électronique avec un style distinctif qui mêle des éléments de trance mélodique, de house progressive, d’ambiant et de synth-pop. Il est le cofondateur du label Planet Sundae et fait partie du duo @opalsunn. Kassian est également associé au label @loveontherocks de son amie @paramida et contribue à son émission mensuelle sur @refugeworldwide.

Il y a des artistes qui se distinguent par leur singularité, alliant un parcours unique et une sensibilité artistique unique. Ces éléments confèrent à leur musique une qualité presque indescriptible. Alex Kassian fait indéniablement partie de cette catégorie. Ses productions dégagent une forme d’élégance rare dans la musique électronique, mêlant des mélodies synthétiques envoûtantes, des percussions organiques et des influences profondément personnelles.

This one’s dedicated to all the lovers! 🥰 After having the best time playing at their party last year Cuddles asked if I would do a mix for their series. At the time I didn’t really have any ideas for a mix and I didn’t want to just churn out another general club promo mix but I’ve always wanted to do some kind of Valentine’s themed mix and it seemed like it would fit pretty well with the idea of the party. Rather than just doing a mix slow jams or whatever I wanted to try and keep the mix quite uptempo and I like a challenge so I decided I would only include tracks that had the word ‘love’ in the title. So here it is, one hour of euphoric house-ish ruminations on love! 😘❤️
