The unhurried rhythm of evolution.

Slow Life came into being in 2011 when an easygoing set of Spaniards & Italians crossed paths and coalesced in Berlin. The current collective consists of Laurine, Cecilio, S. Moreira, and Santi Uribe a.k.a. Indi Zone. The music they play, like the music they produce, is bound together by threads of luminosity and timelessness. 

Between innumerable hours in the studio, a knack for sourcing new talent, and thoughtful art direction, the label grew steadily and organically, and a signature Slow Life identity began to emerge. This led naturally to parties at their homebase in Hoppetosse and the globe-trotting showcases for which the group has become widely known. Ardent digging and long, mesmerizing DJ-sets are central to their craft; they fabricate a musical space for the audience to get lost in, the adventure going as far and deep as the collective imagination will allow. To put it simply: they know how to throw a party and make you feel right at home. 

Each release on the label invokes a timestamp of their intersections and environment, resulting in collaborations with Primary Perception, Basement Space, and Paolo Mosca, to name a few. Strains of jazz, breaks, and ambient music inflect Slow Life’s singular sound with a charismatic balance of discerning taste and approachability.

Slow Life is about taking time and the unhurried rhythm of evolution. Music as a celebration of music. No rush, no pretense, no limitations — only deep work, positive expression, and playful experimentation.

Cezar Lazãr is a multifaceted artist and entrepreneur in the electronic music industry. As a distinguished DJ and producer, he has carved a niche for himself with his innovative sounds and genre-defying tracks, on labels like Understand or Amphia.
With an innate ability to fuse unconventional sounds and rhythms, he specializes in crafting intricate and avant-garde sounds within the realms of minimal experimental techno. With a keen understanding of music production and an innovative approach to sound, Cezar has made a mark in the industry for his unique sonic explorations on and off the dj booth.

Cezar is the visionary founder of Understand, a trailblazing label renowned for pushing the boundaries of electronic music. Under his guidance, Understand has become synonymous with innovation, showcasing cutting-edge artists and pioneering the evolution of techno and experimental sounds. Through Understand, he curates and releases cutting-edge electronic music, showcasing the talents of emerging and established artists alike.

In addition to his creative pursuits, Cezar is the co-founder of OurOwn vinyl distribution platform based in Bucharest, Romania contributing significantly to the rise of Romanian minimal techno scene since 2009.

Vera Heindel is a gifted selector with flawless technique. Playing records in the way she does takes skill, yet the casual observer might not realise just how much. Technical proficiency is vital but only part of the picture. Her style requires a deep connection with her records, one that lets her join the dots throughout hours of music to create a fluid, mesmerising journey for the dance floor. With Heindel on the decks, you might hear shuffling minimal mixed into acid house, or electro into dub techno, bridged by subtle, speedy transitions that never sound rushed or disjointed. You may not realise a new (and very different-sounding) track is playing until long after the old one has been mixed out. It's an ego-free method that puts music above showmanship.
