In the A1 slot of the tenth and latest release from Tilman's own imprint, Klamauk, is "Work It", the track most closely aligned in title to the EP. It's a solid number that pays tribute to French disco house via looping disco guitar chords and 909 beats. The samples themselves endure some clever length changes and filter-work (like any good French affair!) to accentuate the dancefloor pleasure, building and revealing to create variation and tension. The track could honestly fit right in with the beefed-up edit style of Fine, but sits nicely in this package of sample-based house joints.

Belgian producer ColorJaxx returns to Large Music for his second release. Once again, he showcases a flair for creating organic, analog–driven tracks and his work continues to remind me of the early 90's grooves that were prominent on early Chicago labels. The title track is my favorite here but I love all three–I hope you enjoy them just as much.

ColorJaxx | Sweet Desire

2XM deliver ‘Floating Desire / Spaces Between’ via London’s Eton Messy Records this December, featuring two originals from the hotly tipped duo.

Recent times have seen 2XM unveil a string of material via the likes of Russian imprint Sengiley and GLBDOM amongst forthcoming material on Svnset Waves and other self- released material. Here though we see the pair deliver their latest two-track project via Eton Messy Records, the YouTube channel turned record label which has played host to material from the likes of DJ Counselling and Sly One amongst others.			
Up first on the package is the cinematic ‘Floating Desire’, laid out over six minutes with bumpy 2-step drums, intricately evolving sub bass tones and ethereal atmospherics at its core. Further emotive touches come via an amalgamation of hypnotic vocal hooks and twinkling keys which ebb and flow their way throughout the composition.				
‘Spaces Between’ follows next, this time round tipping the focus over to classic deep house tropes. Employing organic percussion and choppy bass stabs to fuel the groove while warm chord sequences, plucked synths, acid licks and delayed keys keep things dynamically evolving.

It’s safe to say that 2020 was a strong year for Sattam having had his track ‘Funky Family’ take off, clocking up over 300,000 streams on Spotify alone. With DJ support from the likes of The Blessed Madonna, Jody Wisternoff and Horse Meat Disco, Sattam has put himself in the driving seat for even more momentum in 2021, starting with his release on Plaza.

Coast puts a refreshing, modern twist on soulful ‘70s NYC disco, rich in sampled texture, whereas When You Felt Free refers to colourful ‘90s house and dub techno. Both tracks anticipate the return of the dancefloor in fine style, yet present themselves in ways that are perfect for home-listening in the meantime.
