Though heralding from different electronic music scenes, the Brooklyn-based DJs and producers, Andi and Arvin T, have an electric synergy with their b2b sets. As an amped up potion of italo, EBM, trance and dance music edits, the duo concocts a carefully constructed journey that drives from beginning to end. Even though their collaboration began in December of 2022, they’ve already opened for Phase Fatale, Boy Harsher and Kendal.

We welcome another great talent and new Blank Wave family member: France based Charlotte Boisselier alias Cate Hortl is combining her fascination for the energy of the clubs and her passion for haunted melodies of dark Pop.

After a period of creating with the dazzling Ambeyance and Oktober Lieber bands, she has now been working solo for the past three years, carving out a more intimate path and bringing long standing explorations to life.

Feeding her inferno with 80s influences, she conjures up modern Italo, heavy-footed dark Pop, galvanizing EBM and ecstatic Techno in a stormy atmosphere, fusing melancholy and joy, dance and introspection.

By appropriating these registers and their contradictions, she has put together the exciting first EP “Smog”, released in the fall of 2021 on Ritmo Fatale. Just after, she released “HEX”, on the Warriorecords label. More recently, two of her new tracks were released on the Club Forever label, and she took part in the latest compilation by New York label Samo Records.

Blank Wave Guest Mix 031: Cate Hortl

No. 33 is made by our friend Reyk from the Netherlands, who is passionate about (Dark) Disco and founder of the Amsterdam-based platform TANK Kollektiv as well as TANK Radio. It was in a little café in his hometown, where we met and found out that we had a lot in common - he shares the musical love as a DJ through podcasts, small-scaled events, and (inter)national performances. His inspiration comes from a variety of genres such as: (Dark) Disco, Trance, House, and everything in-between. Currently he is also working on his first release as a producer, so stay tuned and whenever you're in Amsterdam, check out his event schedule!

"Why is mixtape art so important to me? Why mixtape?
Because it’s not just a collection of mine favourite tracks, but rather a closed whole, where every element is important for the whole show. This is a favourite stage of creating a mixtape-looking for points of contact, dialogue between the sound and emotions that the songs carry".

"My adventure with minimal synth, cold wave music began in 2018 with my fascination with album covers from my favourite record label, TONN Recordings. It was the photographs that were the impetus to get to know the collection of this excellent label. The first mixtape that was created in 2020 for Transmission / Transmission was just inspired by both TONN albums and the visual side - covers of the presented albums. For the next few years, also I used my own photographs for mixtape covers. From 2020 I made several mixtapes for Peruvian InClub Radio and Wave Press music blog".
