one night like half a year ago, i impulsively made an edit of in the afternoon, but it was so trendjack-y that i was too embarrassed to post it, and i never got the vocal stems so i didn't really have anything to distract from how repetitive it started sounding after a while

i know i'm not really much of a musician, i tried learning music production over the summer and made like, one track by myself and that was it. i really want to make more, but every time i sit down in front of my computer, i realize i don't even know what kind of sound i want to make anymore. at first i tried making happy hardcore until i realized i sucked at it, and then tried making edm remixes of dorky webcomics and japanese shoot-em-ups and other people's songs because i'm too inept at composing my own stuff, and along the way somehow things like this happened, where i've stooped down to using jersey club bedsqueak samples unironically i fucking guess? which is already even more disappointing since the song isnt even mine to begin with so i basically just made it worse??? LOL

i wish there was only so much experimenting one can do before finding a sound they are happy with, and right now i still don't think i know what i am doing. i know improvement is a constant and neverending process, but without seeing satisfactory results while my work-in-progress folder just keeps piling up with more garbage, it's a little difficult to keep going on

someone told me once that i am never happy with anything i make, because i never put them out and i keep them all to myself. i see all the mistakes and never hear any positive feedback from anybody because i don't give them the chance to in the first place. i think maybe that's true. maybe i'm not as bad at this as i think, or maybe i am. i dont think i'll ever know unless i do this.

maybe i'll post the other stuff too. i really like making music and i really, really want to get better at it. here's hoping i get myself out of this rut and end up making things i am happy with this 2016
