Left Behind (Together) is a nifty, steel-string guitar piece by Gustavo Santaolalla; from The Last of Us Volume 2. It's emblematic of his ability to find small spaces, and set positive constraints on the guitar. Gustavo Santaolalla picks low hanging fruit like no other guitarist/composer. Everytime I play one of his pieces, I'm blown away by the elegance of the left-hand movement.

Also, I'm having a continued renaissance in my recording technique. I'm allowing mic noise, and accidental room noises to enter and become a part of the recording. This lo-fi technique has been popularized in the post-classical movement of music, e.g., Dustin O'Halloran, and Stephan Moccio. The sound is much more personal -- like you're sitting in the room with me.

Left Behind (Together) Medley is an arrangement that includes The Path (A New Beginning) and Inextinguishable Flames. These songs also from Gustavo Santaolalla's The Last of Us soundtracks.

Fingerstyle arrangement and guitar tab for the 1923 Theme, by composer Brian Tyler. 

1923 is a Yellowstone origin story, where the Duttons face challenges to the ranch, in the early 20th century. I particularly like the character of Spencer -- a WW1 soldier suffering from PTSD who's biding time as 'man-eater' hunter in Africa. Kind of like Michael Douglas's character in The Ghost and the Darkness.

It's especially nice to see actor, Jerome Flynn, as Banner Creighton; the Scottish shepherd feuding with Jacob Dutton. You might remember him as 'Bronn, the sell-sword' in Game of Thrones.

Brian Tyler's extraordinary music narrates the Yellowstone Universe. I love how he ties in the hook of the Yellowstone theme at the end of 1923's opening titles.

There's something about a solitary, lonesome black stratocaster, that makes me want to play Jimi Hendrix songs like Little Wing, and Bold As Love. 

In the video above I created on original piece of music -- a homage --that pays tribute to Jimi Hendrix's guitar style. Specifically his R&B guitar style from the likes of Little Wing, and Bold as Love.

I took a basic Gospel C/F progression and just let my mind wander a landscape of Hendrix licks and phrases. In some cases they licks are verbatim, and others have my spin.

I'm calling this tune, No Cross to Bear. I've suffered from anxiety my whole life -- except when I play my guitars. Though I do a lot of film score stuff on classical/acoustic guitars -- there's something about a Strat that makes me lose space and time.

When I play it, figuratively speaking, I have "no cross to bear".

Guitar performance and guitar tab for, I Am a Poor Wayfaring Stranger, as performed by Jos Slovick, from the film, 1917.

The Wayfaring Stranger is a well-known American folk and gospel song that originating in the early 19th century. The song is about a plaintive soul on the journey of life. The most popular variation is from Johnny Cash. In my humble opinion, Jos Slovick's dark and Celtic version in 1917 is by far the best known performance. It may never be eclipsed.

1917 (directed by Sam Mendes) cannot be praised enough. The photography, cinematography, and action sequences are stunning. The performances throughout the film -- are some of the best ever. Specifically, Lieutenant Joseph Blake (Richard Madden) at the end of the film; he remains stoic -- while wrestling down his emotions over his deceased brother. An amazing piece of acting.
