'Echo brain' is a first collaborative track made by three artists under the moniker 'Genzling'. The harmonic trio focus on developing both hypnotic and energetic music synthesis with a clear reference to the past. The track is highly infused with italo and early electronics sounds. Followed by metallic vocal lines that should lift your soul to midnight's euphoria.

In the vibrant summer of 1984, the sun beat down on the picturesque streets of Bologna, Italy. It was a day like any other, except that the world of music was about to witness a serendipitous encounter that would change the course of Italo dance history.

Claudio Cecchetto, a renowned Italo dance producer and DJ legend, was on his way to Rome for a crucial meeting with a record label executive. As he drove through the charming streets of Bologna, the city's energy seemed to beckon him, urging him to pause for just a moment.

He decided to stop by a local café, drawn by the aroma of freshly brewed espresso and the sound of Italian chatter. As he sipped his coffee, a man with a vibrant aura caught his attention. This man was Oderso Rubino, a well-known figure in the Italian music scene and the founder of Italian Records.

Claudio couldn't help but introduce himself to Oderso, who, in turn, recognized the famous DJ instantly. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, fueled by their shared passion for music. Oderso mentioned that he was on his way to a club where a talented band called Gaz Nevada was performing that night.

Excitement filled Claudio's veins as he realized the potential of this opportunity. He shared his vision for a new Italo dance track he had been working on called 'People From Ibiza' something fresh and exciting that could light up the dance floors. Oderso's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm, and he asked Claudio if he had a demo of the song.

Claudio nodded and reached into his bag to retrieve a cassette tape. This was the original demo, a treasure he had been carrying with him, unsure of where destiny would lead him. With a smile, he handed it to Oderso.

The two music enthusiasts made their way to the club where Gaz Nevada was performing live. The atmosphere was electric, and the dance floor pulsed with energy. Gaz Nevada took the stage, and as the crowd swayed to their rhythm, Oderso approached the band with Claudio's demo.

Gaz Nevada agreed to give it a listen during their break. As the demo played, the pulsating beats and infectious melodies filled the room. It was as if Claudio's music had captured the very essence of that moment, blending seamlessly with the euphoria of the crowd.

As the sun began to rise over Bologna, the city still reverberated with the echoes of the electrifying performance of Claudio Cecchetto's demo by Gaz Nevada the previous night. The morning after this historic encounter promised even more excitement and inspiration.

Claudio Cecchetto had spent the night supervising the recording of the demo, alongside the talented vocalist Sandy Marton. The chemistry between the two artists was undeniable, and their shared passion for music fueled their creative energies.

In the studio, the atmosphere was charged with anticipation. Claudio, Sandy, and the members of Gaz Nevada were ready to breathe life into the masterpiece they had discovered. The song was born right there, in the heart of Italy, a tribute to the vibrant spirit of the island of Ibiza.

As the recording session progressed, the song "People From Ibiza" began to take shape. Claudio's deft production skills brought out the best in Sandy's powerful vocals, while Gaz Nevada added their signature touch with electrifying instrumentals.

This is the original tape of the forgotten initial version, recovered and restored by Italo Disco's collector and aficionado  Craxi Disco.

'Boy' sees Rari go full-psychoactive-Italo mode on a post PC-music pop tip, its racing groove taking us on a demented drive from Moroder avenue onto Trancey-ville, as a good heir of his country's party-focussed legacy. Sensory flooding to the four winds.

More than fitting, Italo Brutalo put his magic remix touch on the track, giving true credit to his name.

The Queer Northern-Ireland born Cormac is back from another busy year as a label honcho and curator with the second Polari compilation No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 scheduled for release 31st of January 2024.

The compilation is filled with synth heavy swings, acid basslines, steamy vocals and lots of fun, making NTITB Vol. 2 the perfect entrance release into the new year.

Cormac says; No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 is a unique family with offerings from Polari hitmakers such as Jordan Nocturne, ROTCIV, & Louis de Tomaso as well as introducing new talent to the roster including DJ City, Nimmo, Shay Shaz, Hifi Sean, Joshua James + Xols.

I curate the compilation much as I do a DJ set, so there is a voyage of sorts in listening to the compilation as a whole. I encourage the listener to listen as you would an album, although they of course work solo as well.

A 10-track long journey forms a unique force of anthemic sounds, tapping into nostalgia but never pulling away from today's references. No Tears In The Backroom Vol. 2 serves as a dance-heavy pursuit aiming to not hold back.

The label profits from the new compilation are going to charity. Polari has previously raised money for All Out.

Doctors Without Borders is a politically neutral Non-Governmental Organisation whose main objective is to treat people in regions of the world where they are most needed. They are currently most active in Gaza and have a further 70 projects active in the world.

German artist Martin Matiske's start in music came at the hands of the legendary DJ Hell, who invited him to his first DJ gigs in 1999 at one of his Gigolo label nights in Munich. 

His own productions, inspired by early electronic pioneers like Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre, soon followed on International Deejay Gigolo Records, as have many more since on Frustrated Funk, Bordello A Parigi, Moustache Records and Central Processing Unit. Matiske has had high-profile support from the likes of Dave Clarke and Helena Hauff, and this new EP for Brooklyn-based label Melodize is another one that will surely find wide acclaim.

The fantastic 'Moments' opens up with ice-cold snares and drum sounds that are backlit by celestial pads as retro-future synth work brings colour to this catchy and optimistic proto-electro groove. ‘Moments’ then gets a sublime remix treatment from the prolific and endlessly creative Legowelt, who has explored every different style possible under a myriad of aliases on a range of cult labels like Clone, LIES and Crème Organization. The Dutch maestro’s superb take on 'Moments' is an astral electro workout with killer acidic lines, squelchy bass and daubs of psychedelic colour.

On the flip, 'Dimensional Space Travel' is another cinematic electro journey that taps into the motorik tick of Kraftwerk with distinctive melodic phrasings, forming a playful call-and-response with the background chords. Closer 'Analogue Being' taps into early electro with lovably tinny rhythms and sugary, pixelated analogue chords that bring a sense of nostalgia and ruefulness.

Sweet, indistinct smells drifted through the maze of cobbled streets, luring the early risers from their slumbers and into the cafes below. These waking hours were silent, with only muted chatter and the odd dog bark punctuating the morning air. A few hours later as the city began to surface, the atmosphere changed, with swarms of tourists shading themselves under battered awnings and bundling into the nearest souvenir shop. The uninterrupted hours that preceded were a window into the normal everyday life in this place; a slower pace that offered tranquility and sanctuary.
