Hector The Hero (Live)

I found this collective buzzing of bumblebees quite musical, some of them being even in harmony. A distant boat also provides basso continum for this etude :)When listened to it over, I even started to hear some kind of melody outlining from their buzz.

Leanne Barbo, Katariin Raska and Natali Ponetajev are playing the tune of Jaan Rand. A village musician from Kirbla, Estonia. From his repertoire the trio dig especially such kind of older tunes that are comprised of repeated short melodies put together. It is music that puts one in a state that allows one to dance into oblivion.

Eva Väljaots (EST) and Robbie Sherratt (ENG) write and perform music rooted in Estonian and English folklore. Their music, both modern and tradition-sensitive, combines kannel, fiddle, and vocals in a colourful, rich and enchanting way. Sharing an affinity for improvisation and spontaneity, the duo’s communication and companionship captivates the ears eager to float and the toes yearning to dance.

They perform regularly in England, Estonia and Finland for both concerts and dancing. In 2019 they were semi-finalists in Kaustinen Folk Music Festival’s Konsta Jylhä competition and in 2020 won the Grand Prize of the Mooste Elohelü Folk Music Competition in Estonia.
