This month’s freebie is my own version of a track I absolutely love. Most people know The Brothers Johnson for the classic and very good track Stomp, but the true heads among us know that The Real Thing is where it’s really at. The original slaps plenty already with its dramatic strings and falsetto vocal, but I’ve beefed things up a couple of notches and added some breakdowns for dramatic effect. I’m so pleased with how this one has come out, and I’d love for you to download and enjoy. And yes, of course I kept the sax solo!

Everyone knows that Say You’ll Be There is the second best Spice Girls song (Who Do You Think You Are edits have been done a few times, and I’ve shelved my dark acid edit of that for now… but will finish it one day!). So anyway, here’s my version - done my usual stems thing to add some vocal solos and the like, beefed up the percussion and bass, got rid of some of the annoying bits and dialled up some other bits. Not much else to say except dig in, enjoy, and thank you.

Next up in my free edit series is another one I've loved forever and wanted to work my magic on for ages - Ring My Bell by Anita Ward. This tune’s obviously all about the lame little boopy sound, but I love the jangly guitars and backing vocals too. Standard Funkier treatment of beefing matters somewhat up and rearranging things - I’ve given it a long and gradual build up to the vocal, messed around with the stems a bit and added some percussion and snippy hi hats to create a nearly 7 minute monster. I think it’s turned out pretty well, and I’m inviting you to download it and enjoy it. Go on, help yourself - click the little shopping cart icon and it's yours for nothing :)

A few years back I spent absolutely ages making a sort of garage meets dnb rework of an Ariana Grande tune. It more or less sank without a trace back then, and I think it's a solid concept so I'm giving it another chance at glory. It's had a full refresh and I'm really pleased with how much fuller, cleaner and more alive it's sounding. Lots of tongue in cheek rave cliches in here - hell, I even sampled my own Amen Break!
