Disco Waltons Sunday Service - October 2021

It gives me great pleasure to welcome Discoholic Ken back to the show this week for a second spin of Feel Good grooves. He was the first guest of this year, and kicked off 2021 with an amazing set that brought a smile to everyone’s Friday. Bringing his 30+ years of DJ experience to the decks, I’m sure this week’s show will be another blinder. 

Since he was last on the show, Ken has continued to build up his record label Discoholics Anonymous, releasing a series of quality tracks that have all gone down a storm in the disco world. The artists on his label have included Ezirk, Twin Sun, Disco Lust, Dexter Jones and Monsieur Van Pratt, to name but a few. Ken was also responsible for releasing and promoting my own track, Sound of the Music!

As well as a record label, Discoholics Anonymous is a well respected music blog, with music reviews, exclusive premiere’s of new tracks and many free downloads. Ken definitely has his finger on the pulse when it comes to disco.

He also runs weekly radio show called Hot To The Touch, with co-host Martin Max. The show is broadcast on Prime Radio in Greece, and reaches a terrestrial audience off over 300,000 people. Weekly guests have included Jet Boot Jack, Igor Gonya, Stephen Richards and Ken@Work. All the shows are available on his soundcloud page

My special guest this week is Ben Banjo Field. Hailing from "Costa Del Devon", but now residing in Cardiff, Ben has always had a passion for music.

After suffering a cardaic arrest back in 2011, his friends and family clubbed together to buy him an iPad to help him through the coming months in hospital, where he downloaded a DJ app and started his music journey. He has seen gone from strength to strength, with the power of music helping him through the tough times

Ben is a creator of  brand called “Beach Bar Beats”, with mixes of uplifting summer house, and his your tube change has had more than 50K views. But more recently he’s been playing more of a funky, disco vibe, which you’ll hear on the show today.

Ben has been DJing in some of cardiff’s prestigious night spots including Kuku, Vanilla Rooms & Pryzm.  with a career highlight of DJing at UEFA’s after party from the champions league final back in 2017, along with being the resident DJ at one of Cardiff's newest & triendiest hot spots, The Corporation Yard.

During the lockdowns of 2020 he created a music project called  “The Discography Lessons” to help promote overcoming mental health through music.  DJ mixes have been provided from major artists all over the world including Lenny Fontana, Ladies from Mars, Michael Gray, Doctor Feelgood, Da Lukas & Yam Who?

He has also turned his hand to music production, with a recent release on the world renowned disco label "Midnight Riot", which he opens today's set with. He also has 3 tracks signed to German record label "Groovy Firehorse 66" and 1 track to producer Per QX's label "Walk of Shame".

You can hear his “Drive Time Disco” show on the airwaves every Friday at 4pm on Broke FM, where he has been a resident DJ for the last 12 months.

As a DJ he’s taken his trademark rollercoaster genre-fluid sets to locations including Glastonbury, ADE and Westival, playing parties for Midnight Riot, Good Custard, Project Bango, Pineapple Police Horse and DiscNoTheque. And as a producer he’s released on over 20 labels labels including Tropical Disco, Hot Digits, Mango Sounds, The Disco Express, Midnight Riot and TheBasement Discos.
