I am a composer of new music or contemporary classical music whatever name you like or whichever carries the least amount of baggage in your mind. I don't care which term you use but please take a moment to listen to my works.

I grew up in southern Alabama not far from the Gulf of Mexico. I currently reside in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with my wife , Cheryl, and our son, Asa. I love chamber music. I write lots of it. In fact that is the only music I have written so far. Mainly it's because I've known so many great performers and  I've had the opportunity to compose for them.

Figments 1, 2, & 3


This is one of my earliest works and my first foray into microtones. I composed this work over a 2 day period for saxophonist David Parks. He offered to give me a bottle of tequila for the work. I like the piece and I enjoyed the tequila.

Two guys: David Parks and Matt Gelband have been ardent supporters of this work and due to their hard work it has been performed at least a dozen times all over the USA, Poland, Japan. and Australia.

So I accidentally started a series of solo instrumental works and before I knew it I was on number three. [Figment No. 1 is for Alto Sax, No. 2 for Violin]. 
Figment No. 3 "Euterpe" was written for my good friend and flutist Misty Rondeau Theisen as a birthday gift in 2005.

Figment No. 2 "Juggler's Fancy" for violin alone was written as a birthday gift for my good friend, violinist and pedagogue Samantha Neal.  The first performance was given in the spring of 2005 at the inaugural Integrales New Music Festival on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi.  

The subtitle of "Juggler's Fancy" has a double meaning in this work. The first is a reference to one of Sam Neal's hobbies: juggling.  The second is the way the violin seems to move around or juggle the thematic material in quite a fanciful manner.
