Underworld dreams with Newworldaquarium 

It was seven or eight years since Newworldaquarium last appeared in Berlin, playing Berghain or Panorama or something like that. In the grace of the artist's movements over the last years however, NWAQ has swayed from house music to something more 'life listening' - with his Wake 'n' Bake show on Mutant Radio a testament to his tastes and styles these days.

Bugged out at the fact that it had been so long since he last visited town, and with such a sound at his finger tips these days, a place in Absurd Lustre was an invite we had been trying to post for a long time. A man who loves his German beers as much as his lush, serene and calming ambient, the legendary Newworldaqaurium set can be described as some kind of technicolour  dream.

This Carhartt WIP Radio show concerns the label Music From Memory, based in Amsterdam and formed in 2013 by Abel Nagengast, Jamie Tiller and Tako Reyenga. The label's ethos is to share overlooked and unreleased material from the 70's onwards, from all over the planet, on vinyl, with inspired packaging. After years of digging and DJing, the team continue to look further afield to unearth treasures that have often not been heard by anyone other than the artists themselves. Coming initially from a dance music perspective, Music From Memory's catalogue is impossible to categorize, involving ambient and new age styles, instrumentation and vocals, from drone and percussion tracks through to full blown songs. Releases have included artists such as Gigi Masin, Vito Ricci, Suso Sáiz, Leon Lowman and Dip in the Pool, to name just a few. Besides reissuing material from the past, they also give place to music from today and release with Gaussian Curve one of the finest contemporary bands dancing between ambient, downtempo and new age spheres. For Carhartt WIP Radio the Music From Memory folks prepared a journey through the vaults of their label. Enjoy.
