Arend’s latest work, “Demo-Listen Derby 2020,” began as a biweekly demo series on Patreon and has evolved into a three-volume EP-set and an ongoing yearly project. For Arend, “Demo-Listen Derby” is an exercise in anti-perfectionism, following after self-recording heroes such as Richard Swift and Sufjan Stevens. Each song from the set is one-take, recorded on one-mic in his home studio, and resultantly, the sonic aesthetic is not unlike ‘60s and ‘70s guitar-and-voice folk records.

This song was a reflection of trauma and self healing that myself and Avia experienced. We wanted this song to be relatable and we wanted people to know that "you are not alone, you can make it, you are strong, and to love yourself first". This song was an emotional roller coaster, I had to dig through my trauma and use my pain to self heal. I want to let the listeners know that if you ever need someone to talk too, if you ever feel alone, you can always contact me through here or my social media to talk and vent. We love you all!
