Originally released by Musical Freedom, the instrumental edit of 19-year-old Oliver Heldens’ deep house smash ‘Gecko’ has become a staple in club sets for 2014, peaking at #2 in the Beatport chart and garnering support from the likes of Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Zane Lowe. 

The latest edit ‘Gecko (Overdrive)’, written and vocalled by Becky Hill during a late night recording session with MNEK, is being released by Parlophone’s vital new dance imprint FFRR. Initially written for another vocalist, Becky’s towering vocal on Gecko’s chorus was deemed the perfect fit and has already been coined the ‘Hottest Record in the World’ by Zane Lowe.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future. One of the OG Defected House Masters, Dennis Ferrer’s relationship with the iconic London label is checkpointed by a vast number of innovative originals, guiding house through many eras from soul and gospel to Afro and techno. Now renowned as one of the instantly recognisable anthems of modern house and the Defected catalogue, ‘Hey Hey’ receives two Afro house remixes from Jack Back and Da Capo & Kitty Amor. One of electronic music’s most recognisable artists, David Guetta created the Jack Back alias to return to his house roots, releasing the chart-topping Defected hit ‘(It Happens) Sometimes’ in 2018. His remix of Dennis Ferrer’s classic has been widely teased in his sets, including a DJ Mag livestream which resulted in a tidal wave of fan support; now the French titan presents the hotly anticipated ‘Hey Hey’, complete with pitched percussion steering us towards moments of tension and smooth, deep release. Up next on the package, South African producer Da Capo joins forces with a pioneer of the burgeoning UK Afro house scene, Mahaba Music label boss Kitty Amor. Together the pair create an unmissable take on the classic, presenting a brooding ‘Hey Hey’ that unfurls slowly to reveal growling, electronic rhythms that slice through the sound system with tenacity.

Colombian producer Deviu teams up with South African-born musician Jordan Arts for ‘Who We Are’ on Purified Records. Floating across a progressive soundscape, Jordan’s recognizable vocals are intertwined with Deviu’s signature synth work to achieve a timeless and touching sonic environment.

The ‘Who We Are’ artwork presents a stunning underwater shot by Daniel Nicholson. The ocean appears blue primarily because water absorbs colors in the red part of the light spectrum, and blue light is scattered, making it the most visible to our eyes. Additionally, the sky reflects blue light onto the ocean surface, which enhances its blue appearance. Essentially, the way light interacts with water and is perceived by our eyes is why the ocean looks blue. The Ocean Foundation is the only community foundation for the ocean, on a mission to improve global ocean health, climate resilience, and the blue economy. They create partnerships to connect all peoples in the communities in which they work to receive the informational, technical, and financial resources they need to achieve their ocean stewardship goals.

Located on the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia, Daniel Nicholson is one of the globe’s most prominent professional underwater photographers. He seeks to share the beauty and magic of the underwater world to inspire conservation and change.
