As a producer, Jaytech’s pedigree has long been recognised. Producing from just 14 and releasing his debut track at 16, the Australian’s unique melodic blends have been supported by DJs like Sasha, Armin, Tiësto and, of course, Above & Beyond. As a DJ, he remains a respected selector of new sounds, with his Jaytech Music podcasts regularly showcasing the best in modern progressive and his mixes for the “Anjunadeep” compilation series hitting number one twice in the iTunes dance chart, both with his Anjunadeep 02 compilation in 2010, ("Compilation of the month ****” -Mixmag) and again in 2011 with Anjunadeep 03. 

Both classy and club focused, “Multiverse” represented a natural juncture for Jaytech to elevate from Anjunadeep to the more main-room energies of Anjunabeats; a label responsible for hits like Above & Beyond’s “Sun & Moon”, Arty’s “Around The World” and Mat Zo’s “Bipolar”. Its crazy to think its been over 11 years since the release of Resonance, my debut mix cd for former leading US drum & bass label Breakbeat Science. So much has changed within the world's EDM scene, from the demise of vinyl to CDs to the rise of virtual dj software and controllers to VSTs, sample packs, you tube, to countless new genres and subgenres, festivals, superstar DJs, and overall swells in popularity for dance music fueled by an interconnectivity that was only barely starting to form a generation ago. Some things about this have made dance music a never more exciting landscape, but in the same breath technology has practically rendered the art and skill aspects of actually DJing defunct as necessary prerequisites of being a touring DJ .
Yet it is that thrill of creating a story, one that induces positive, shared neural-consciousness-lifting potential experiences out of a variety of people's music that has always excited me. It is something I hold dear to my heart, and I am so grateful to the universe for letting me live and see the world doing what I love, spreading joy to to others this way. My belief in the healing powers of mixing and dancing are what keep me involved in this upside-down night world to this day.
 
So when my friend and original Play Me co-founder Mark Subsonik asked me about doing a drum & bass mix for his Subsonik Sound Recordings podcast, I was delighted and inspired me to revisit the vibes and sound of Resonance with a range of today's drum & bass music. I've called it Resound is a continuation of that story. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Four Tet live in the Boiler Room

I wrote this on two flights. One to the east coast from Texas and the other here to Amsterdam. I've used Ableton, Alchemy, Diva, numerous plugins for mixing etc and for editing CDP, Csound, Spear, Iris and quite a bit of RX.

Playing around with a bunch of new spectral stretching a blurring algorithms and techniques that are sure to find their way into a new version of Stutter Edit at some point.

I've never really shared things as I am working on them, but the response to this has overwhelmingly positive, so here's one that I finished last night.

What an incredible time it is that it is possible to compose over 38,000ft in the air, and have the CPU, software and materials to finish a composition like this. All not in a studio. It's something I have quite literally dreamt of for years.

While scouring the wastes of North America for traces of the evil Dr Kannibalen, Black Tiger Sex Machine detect a strange radio signal coming from a nearby abandoned village. Suspecting that this may have something to do with the Kannibalen plague, they decide to investigate, bringing along their team of goth girl punk warriors, Studs, Spikes and Blood. Their entry into the deserted city is unchallenged, but once in the center, they start hearing ominous groans, as hundreds of ravenous zombies begin shambling out of the surrounding buildings. Realizing they have been caught in a trap, our heroes are left with one option: they must fight for their survival. Time to Destroy! 

Destroy It is a new EP by Black Tiger Sex Machine. The title track is a straightforward big-room electro house banger. The second track on the EP is a collaboration with Kai Wachi: the aptly-named “Tribal Gangs” is a punishing electro trash track with pounding tribal drums and over-saturated synths. The EP also features three remixes of “Destroy It”. Canadian electro star Drivepilot manages to make the original even more intense, throwing dark string sections onto the main drop synth, intercutting alternate distorted basslines, and dropping seriously epic chords into the breakdowns. Austrian duo Urban Contact turn out an upbeat complextro remix that keeps things interesting with some expertly produced instrumental sections. L.A. based producer Rob De Large rounds out the trio of remixes with a nightmarish 111 bpm techno version.
