there is a lot of emotional work behind this 2 1/2h. musically, In all my years, I’ve never dedicated myself so intensely to one thing. it was really a beautiful experience and gave me a lot of joy.

With our 15th episode, we welcome another very talented artist to our Herbarium series. It is @alkini, the label head of the fabulous imprint @a-biotic. In his journey, he leads us through many different stages of consciousness, mixing intriguing beatless pieces with hypnotic rhyhthms.

Alkini chose the plant Lavender / Lavandula for this trip. Some words about it from his side:
'Various influences, various hues. 
I wanted to write something that resonates with myself using music that I admire.

Its color being my favorite and its scent never leaving me indifferent, lavender is the plant that brings back the most memories for me. 
It originates from Provence, in the south of France. A familiar place to me.

Originating from the western Mediterranean basin, lavender was already used by the Romans to preserve linen and scent baths. 
In Provence, lavender was employed in the Middle Ages for the production of perfumes and medicines, but it wasn't until the 19th century that its cultivation expanded.'

Orbita 07 - Morphing Territories

Monochrome presents, 𝖍𝖎𝖛𝖊𝖗 𝖑𝓥 : Pjenné, Passing Notes.

This winter, Monochrome is offering each month to one or several artists to discover their influences and inspirations through a forty-five minute to two hour recording. These three recordings will focus on percussive rhythms between Ambient, Deep Techno and Drum & Bass.

Artist biography :
Pjenné (Penny O’Brien) is a familiar name in the Melbourne dance community. Through her imaginative club sets and weekly show on Melbourne’s PBSfm Radio, she has established herself as a critical fixture in the local scene. Though her sets may vary wildly, Pjenné has crafted a style that is distinctly her own - atmospheric whilst bass-heavy, it’s sure to make you want to move.
The after-hours see her navigating through all realms of dance music - energetic sets that are heavily driven by the psychedelic and progressive sounds of the 90s and beyond. Equally adept at playing small, sweaty basements as she is festival stages, Pjenné has made multiple appearances at the highly acclaimed Inner Varnika, Strawberry Fields, Golden Plains and Boiler Room.
Away from the dancefloor, Pjenné finds a sanctuary inside the radio booth. Her show Passing Notes further explores her fascination with the diversity of electronic music, as well as the community it fosters. The airwaves afford her the opportunity to showcase sounds a little more unorthodox. From early evening soundscapes, downtempo and emotional synth pop, to experimental club music, Passing Notes provides a crucial connection from club to community, also playing host to inspiring local and international talent. 
Pjenné’s passion for what she does is pervasive. Be it in the studio or on the dancefloor, the same beliefs shine through: the importance of community, of supporting each other and the necessity of a damn good dance.

Exploring w/ Simone Bauer

The first podcast of the year features our dear friend, London-based DJ, and sound artist, Faery. Many of you are likely familiar with her work and may have experienced her enchanting performances at renowned venues like Amsterdam’s De School, Positive Education Festival, or London’s Village Underground. She has crafted an immersive, hour-long winter mix for us, which we are incredibly proud to present 🕯️

Faery’s hypnotic selections blend the psychedelic depths of deep techno, tripped-out psy-influenced sounds, dark vortex-like D’n’B, and experimental ambient. Her sound navigates through intricate sound design and rich, moody textures, both within the club realm and in listening scenarios. One of the notable examples of this is her ambient sound art project Bio-17 released last year, where original biorhythmic samples are woven into experimental ambient to create speculative sonic worlds 🌚✨

Faery’s profound introspective journey takes us through the shadowy realms of crepuscular ambient and downtempo. From the outset, we are lured and caught in its rich honey-like currents, spiralling like dervishes as we dive deep and deeper into the mystical sonic gyre. No words can do the sensation justice, so you’ll just have to try for yourselves. Happy swirling 💫
