Caller Karen asks when did we stop going to confession inside a confessional?  That comes up at the bottom of the hour.  First, listener Joseph asks how can we understand the Catholic concept of reality.  Catholic Answers apologist Karlo Broussard fills in Fr. Mitch Pacwa to host “EWTN Open Line—Wednesday.”   Diana asks if we are saved by grace or by works.  She is also curious about the Pope having dialogue with Muslims.  Manny’s family is anti-Catholic and questions why the Catholic Church does not recognize the gospel of Judas.  Mason asks if a priest does the Consecration right, but does not personally will the transubstantiation, would the congregation be deceived into believing they are receiving Jesus? Listener Diane’s granddaughter recently became gay and is not talking to Diane any more.  How can Diane discuss Target without pushing her away.  First, one of our youngest caller of the day, Aubrey, asks how can she explain to her grandma—who recently joined the Church—that not all churches are the same.  Fr. Caller Bridgette finds chapter 8 of “The Joy of Love” very hurtful because it shows mercy only to those who refuse to change.  She is the “discarded spouse” because her husband has gone away with another Catholic woman.  This comes up in the second half of the show.  On today’s Open Line—Friday slot, we offer this special EWTN Theology Roundtable show to look at Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation “The Joy of Love”—Amoris Laetitia—by its name in Latin. What does the Church have to say about cremation? Listener Ron asks.  That comes up later.  First, caller Paul says Catholic college presidents met in 1967 to water down the academics and he wonders if that’s brought any positive result.  Scriptural apologist John Martignoni hosts “EWTN Open Line—Monday” explains why Catholics should stand up for their beliefs.  Dan ask if Purgatory still exist at the time of the second coming?  Greg’s first confession was general absolution.  All his life he’s wondered if that was valid?  Jim hears several songs during Mass say “we become what we receive.”  Is that blasphemous? Why would Jesus be baptized if He’s sinless?  Why do you say Mary is sinless if she is human and Scripture says all humans have sinned?
