An artist with an enviable reputation for producing cross-genre dance music that radiates across the globe, Andre Sobota returns to Proton Music with the truly stunning "Robots" EP.

Growing up in the sprawling São Paolo megalopolis, Andre Sobota's musical training and compositional skills quickly marked him out as a rising talent in a hugely competitive and saturated industry. Heavily influenced by the cultural environs of his native Brazil, Sobota has gone on to dominate the underground dance scene while crossing-over into the mainstream with an official remix of Coldplay and Rihanna's "Princess of China" and multiple plays on BBC Radio 1.

With almost 500 production credits to his name, Andre Sobota's work has gone onto feature on a stellar cast of blue-chip imprints since a debut remixing fellow countryman, Gui Boratto for System Recordings (UK) in December 2008. microCastle, Perfecto, Toolroom and Colorize have all played host to a multitude of original and remix production material that have contributed to Sobota's reputation as one of the dance industry's most highly-prized assets. Proton Music has also been a regular home for the Brazilian maestro with a rich catalogue of material that spans a decade. December 2009's "One Day Out" sparked a relationship that has subsequently blossomed; further original work excelled in singles, "Signal", "Fragments" and "Concluded", before a return to Sobota's 2014 debut with his "5 Years Outside" EP. Remixes of Tvardovsky, Silinder and fellow Brazilian, DNYO, illustrated another side to Sobota's musical character, while July 2017's twin-track, "Unmute" showcased another original EP jewel.

Now returning to the label "Robots" is a typically impressive offering. Opener, "Held Over", combines trademark melodic flow and rhythmic prowess with masterful production technique. Evolving elegantly, Sobota's sound design radiates from within as synth lines develop in freeform glory, reaching their zenith at the mid-point breakdown. Rising and falling with consummate ease, this is a work of sonic art.

Characterised by heavy metronomic beat, the title track quickly ripples into life with a deliciously delayed lead motif. Waxing and eaning in filtered glory throughout, Sobota's musical sensibilities are fully to the fore within "Robots" as counterpoint melody and off-beat percussion combine to mesmerising effect to in a track that shows the Brazilian at the top of his production game.

Bearing his musical soul for all to hear, Andre Sobota finds "Robots" full of sensitivity and individual character.
