For the past six months I've been struggling to find the right words, the correct sounds to express the complex feelings around humanity's diminishing place in expression itself. Raving This Side of GPT will be releasing May 12th, and it's my last words before the realm of human emotion and expression is swallowed up in netcode and neural networks.

Mirrors of You

"If we wish to use the word 'life' to cover all phenomena which locally swim upstream against the current of increasing entropy, we are at liberty to do so. However, we shall then include many astronomical phenomena which have only the shadiest resemblance to life as we ordinarily know it. It is in my opinion, therefore, best to avoid all question-begging epithets such as 'life,' 'soul,' 'vitalism,' and the like, and say merely in connection with machines that there is no reason why they may not resemble human beings in representing pockets of decreasing entropy in a framework in which the large entropy tends to increase."

Two mirrors arranged parallel will reflect an image in such a way it is perceived as infinite. Two cameras pointed towards one another will capture light and output a smaller infinity, defined by the fidelity of the capturing device and the screen on which it is projected. Somewhere in the rippling noise of this small infinity the image of man loses it's features, it's shape, and eventually ceases to mean anything.

Raving this Side of GPT is a greeting to that small, infinite noise, shaped by the pixelated echoes of humanity swallowed in digital perception. At this time, meaning itself is no longer the exclusive effect of human perceptions and judgement. Now meaning is defined by a network of functions born of a mechanistic interpretation of nature, one near-entirely unnatural. So much so that even the creators and masters of these machines cannot foresee the terror and wallow they wrought and sow, or if they do, they are indifferent.

And so this is one last glimpse at the vanishing horizon of reality.
