"I'm 26 years old from the UK. The thought process behind the EP, it was more of a happy mistake.. I made probably about 15-16 beats that i wanted to put together for separate beat tapes but in my mind they just didn't quite fit together, so in the end I decided to just take my favourite tracks from those sessions and put them together into this EP. I guess for inspiration for my music I always want to make something that has a certain "feeling" or "mood" to it (hence the name for the EP), something that can make you nostalgic, or take you to another place in your imagination."

matthew im (@matthewim) releases his debut EP entitled "Munchies" via Toronto label Exhume Music. matthew im, the Toronto based producer, is a lofi hiphop producer that dabbles in sample based music while pulling in elements from jazz and 90's hiphop. Created through out late evening hours, these are the leftovers (food pun) that couldn't get any features. While indulging in Munchies you get a taste of all these elements, from jazz trumpets to Dilla samples and even classic Cheech and Chong vocals to start the EP. After Releasing K Y E E N 's (@kayinm)(previously known as KAYIN) single trynsmoke we hooked up with the 24 year old Philadelphia producer to drop his debut EP entitled Everything is Nothing.  Using vocal samples from John Carpenter's film They Live, juxtaposed into chill lofi beats, K Y E E N mashes the two together to offer up a dreamy escape. Everything is Nothing was inspired by K Y E E N 's belief that even though there's all types of craziness going on in the world, at the end of the day this is just one journey of many so there's no need to stress about it kinda like nothing really matters, this is all temporary. So we should all just chill out.

K Y E E N - Everything Is Nothing

chuckee. (@orangesodabandit) aka Sean is an 18 year old residing in Dream Land, Texas (like the Kirby games). His style is sort of situational and emotional. "When I make lo-fi bumps I just kinda do whatever I feel and I like the way it sounds"

The inspiration for making Skylines came from having to scrap an entire album of "not-as-good" beats from his time with Ableton and starting fresh with FL Studio. Gaining inspiration by going outside and just enjoying all of what summer kinda meant, chuckee. ended up packing in all those vibes, feelings and sun rays into a few beats that resulted into something he really enjoyed.

chuckee.(@orangesodabandit) releases his LP entitled "Beaters" via Toronto based label Exhume Music. chuckee., the 18 year old Dream Land, Texas based producer, is a hiphop producer that dabbles in sample based music while pulling in marquee jazz loops and fuses them with his percussion arrangements. 

We caught up with the 18 year old chuckee. to ask him about his inspiration behind the LP, current influences, album title choice and how Beaters differs from his Skyline EP. 

chuckee. had this to say 

"The name "Beaters" is a streetwear word for shoes that you have that you always wear that are kinda beat up and dirty, and that's what these beats reminded me of when I made em so I named the tape after them.

As far as sampling, I just pulled from everything like jazz, bossa nova, soul, etc. I love sampling everything I can find and this tape wasn't much different.

Since it's more in the springtime and I'm on my way to college, "Beaters" was a lot more happy than mellow like skylines was. I'm trying out new styles so the might've had something to do with it too haha.

I'm inspired mainly by June Blaze's style of making beats the most, between him, monomau and Flamingosis definitely.

As for what's next for me? I might have a little something coming in the summer so be on the look out."

chuckee. - Beaters

ᴄ ʙ ᴀ ᴋ ʟ (@cbakl)the 19 year old Ireland based artist drops his Hopeless EP via Exhume. We had the chance to catch up with ᴄ ʙ ᴀ ᴋ ʟ and ask him about his features, inspiration and future plans. This is what he had to say. 

"As for the features on the album, I've always been community orientated and like networking with other artists, so over the years I've met some really talented people (as shows on this EP) I wanted it to be a showcase of my abilities, and also the abilities of those that have helped me on my journey over the last few years. As for inspirations I drew from people like Kanye, Earl Sweatshirt, Chet Baker, Mac Miller as I created a lot of the beats at a time when I felt alienated by members of the opposite sex, so I guess you could say heartbreak n all that inspired a lot of the tracks on here.
As for what's next for me, I'm gonna release another project before the end of the year & you may even hear a verse or two from me in the coming months. I appreciate every person who's ever taken the time to listen to my music, that shit means the world to me & this is just the beginning.

The tape is a collection of beats made in different moments of my life. A compilation of mixed feelings with each track from sad to dreamy and even  happy moments. It shows the anxiety within life and the constant pressure of always thinking that life is Moving Pretty Fast and something needs to be done. When asked about the inspiration behind the project he let us know that it was about the realization that life is what you make of it and that you decide how you react to it. It was inspired by love and beginning to understand the difference between ego love and attachment and pure true love.

KAYIN is currently working on a solo project which will focus on writing and singing his own music. A solo album will be releasing in the next month so stay tuned for what he has to offer in the next chapter of his music career.

KAYIN - Trivial EP (Side A)

oooslo (@ooslo), the 16 year old beatmaker based in Wellington, New Zealand releases his my second EP entitled departure. 

'Departure' comes from the concept of escaping from the world itself and getting lost in your thoughts. This project has a lot of emphasis on meditation, and just to relax while creating an entrancing atmosphere.

In beatmaking ooslo's biggest inspirations would be oofoe and Wun Two, particularly the intoxicating simplicity of their tracks. The atmospheric sounds of producers such as lxced and Nuages were also a strong influence for this EP.
