yibai (Dávid Gerlei) is a Budapest-based artist who composes experimental ambient and post-industrial with elements of contemporary classical music. He is a third-year Electronic Music and Media Arts student at the University of Pécs.
 
His debut EP “Rianás” was released on the Hungarian experimental flagship label EXILES in February, 2023. The material – featuring elements of icy ambient and frosty IDM – was well-received and got yibai to perform at multiple venues such as Budapest Music Center, Kolorádó Festival and Kabinet Múz in Brno.
 
Following his slightly more industrial and drum-oriented 7-track album “Force Quit” – released on tape by the newborn Budapest-based label temporary nites –, in April, he returned to EXILES with “Hatch + Foster” – a 20-minute EP exploring the fields of bass-heavy, dynamic ambient with an industrial touch. yibai has performed parts of “Hatch + Foster” at SHARPE Festival in Bratislava, as well as at House of Music Hungary before Ryoji Ikeda’s concert.

kukorica (Barnabás Tóth) is a Budapest-based musician and sound artist, and an alum of the Electronic Music and Media Arts program at the University of Pécs. After contributing his work to compilations such as ‘EZMVA’ by 111records (‘bukdácsol és megérkezik’) and ‘Healer’ by EXILES (‘how i found my peace today’), he returns to our label with his debut album ‘ceramic tears’, a 7-track collection that came to be in the autumn-winter period of 2023.

The main focus of kukorica’s work is recreating nature-like behaviors using artificial sounds, and this effortless aim to merge the organic with the synthetic is evident from the first seconds of ‘gritty frogs’ all the way to the last notes of ‘middle tear’.

‘ceramic tears’ is a deeply personal, matured record, one that is also an experiment in observing: after setting up generative systems and stochastic processes, kukorica tries to only step in as gentle arranger, to guide sounds rather than force them in a certain direction. By blending volatile ambient textures with synthesized frog croaks, imperfect choirs with metallic cricket chirps, feedbacked percussive elements with deep roars or quirky vintage synths with the airy rustle of leaves, the artist creates (or allows?) digital imprints of nature-like states that are unique in their imperfections – and that reward deep listening.

@lalamina is the moniker of multi-disciplinary French artist Clarice Calvo-Pinsolle. In Basque mythology, the Lamina is half-human, half-animal; a nocturnal creature that lives in caves close to water sources and creeks. Taking influence from the natural world, works of hydrofeminism, and experiences with hypnotism, on ‘Olas Curativas’ Lamina sculpts a new ecosystem to explore.

‘Olas Curativas’ was written and recorded in 2022 & 2023, with these pieces first heard as live jams at shows mainly around Brussels and Portugal. This is Lamina's and Twin System's first vinyl release.

Takeaway boxes gathering around you like silent witnesses to your demise. Chain-smoking. Starting letters, deleting them over and over. Calling your shrink to raise the dose. Maybe this time it will go away, but you know it won’t. When you beg for closure, only to realize you’re begging yourself.

Reissued today as it is the 85th anniversary of the Coventry Blitz on 14th November 1940.

Tracks inspired by the two beautiful cathedrals in the city of Coventry. One, built in the late 14th and early 15th centuries was destroyed in the Coventry Blitz, on 14th November 1940.

A new cathedral was designed by architect Basil Spence and work began on the construction in 1956. After six years the new cathedral was consecrated and opened six years later in 1962.

The new cathedral is a striking modernist design and has been described as stark and beautiful and even brutal and beautiful.

It is a stunning building, both inside and out, and I would highly recommend visiting if you are ever in the city.
