Hello there beautiful people, I’m Marleen aka DJ Übergang! 

Funnily my first touch point with electronic music, in particular techno, was Munich. I was doing an internship there late 2013/beginning of 2014 and often ended up at Rote Sonne or Harry Klein on the weekends – back then I was completely hooked by the sound and energy. When I moved to Berlin in April 2014 and discovered the party scene my excitement for electronic music was deepened and I started to spend more and more of my free time on music digging (like deep diving into artists and labels). When I attended houseparties or pre drink sessions I liked to play music (back in the day very old fashioned and unprofessional via Youtube :-P) and often people were telling me to maybe do something with my taste in music. It took me several years to have the courage to actually play at a bar and record my first mix though!
Over time and with new experieces I made in Berlin I developed a passion for Synth/Wave/80s/Italo Disco and EBM – one of the reasons why I love going to Dream Baby Dream almost every weekend. I especially like switching between different genres and decades – both when I play a set or record a mix.
I don’t seek any professional goals but consider playing music as my most favorite hobby. It’s super fun to share music and to catch up on the responses you get - according to the motto: Music, connecting people!
I’m mostly inspired by artists who bring together different genres and decades. Big inspirations for me are Mike Who, Fei Pao, Tim Sweeny and Steele Bonus. My favorite soundcloud channels are e.g. Beats in Space, Planet Trip Records, Lorem Ipsum and Dark Entries Records.

Experimenting using various styles of techno for the last six years, he has developed his very own intuitive and unique workflow with his productions being largely inspired by a Eurorack Modular Synthesiser. Fireground is the collaboration of Angela and Daniele, who are predominantly known for their output of Techno and Electro via their own label R12 Records. The Napolitan duo delivered a timeless release for Tresor earlier in 2021 that's expertly connecting classic Birmingham sound of the 90s and early 2000s - think Surgeon’s Tresor trilogy - with current research in Techno.

We are hitting you all up extra early this year to share with you another of our SPEED Artist Invitation Mixtapes. This time around we have invited the Naarm based producer Hasvat Informant to put a mix together to really get your new year off on the right foot. 

With a background in Sound Engineering, Hasvat Informant is a Naarm producer who has been quite active in the scene both working on his own music output as well as engineering credits for various local and eu talents such as Solar Suite, CTSD, Dr. Chicken Gristle and Haber. His own outputs, either under Hasvat Informant or his alias Intellagama can be heard on labels such as MORD, Amniote Editions and Ute. 

We’re super stoked to have this mix from Hasvat Informant be the mix that kicks things off for us at SPEED this year and hope that you all enjoy putting it on and much as we did!

Hasvat Informant | SPEED 速度 | 018

@inishn is a Nordic artist and DJ known for their fast-paced sound and intentional interweavings of trance, techno and queer divinity. After falling in love with dance music during their time in Berlin, they aim to challenge conformity through their artistic expressions.

In their hometown of Bergen, Norway, they focus on driving the creation of autonomous safer, accessible spaces for trans and minority people, through their passion project ‘A Guide to Empathetic Spaces’ and queer club concept, Spirals. In 2019 they co-founded Norway’s first ever Trangender Awareness Week and continued working with the community by mentoring music production to transgender youth.

In this exclusive DETECT mix for FOLD, they begin with a track by Ukrainian artist Katarina Gryvul, before they go on to collaborate with the Brazilian, Norwegian-based, artist and writer Nayara Leite - blending Nayara’s poem with Inish’s unreleased track ‘Nadir’.

During the pandemic years we had the chance to get to know many people that shared the need to dance and express themselves, and that's how we happened to meet today's host, a young talented DJ that we immediately connected with, hooked by his music taste and DJ style.

For our 4th episode we are delighted to welcome one of Amsterdam's nightlife usual suspects, Nacho @nacho-iglesias-543198899 , originally from Asturias (Spain). Also, a member of Disturbia, a collective that focuses on the underground techno scene, Nacho provides us with an impressive music selection, where hypnotic techno meets ambient and fast vibes. With no doubt one for the books.

If you don't want to miss him, Disturbia are performing on the 16 of April in Radion, an event-series created from the necessity of dance and unity, where everyone is invited to playfully celebrate their freedom, creating a safe space where diversity, equity and inclusion are the main values of their community.

As the founder of Krill Music, Espen Lauritzen has wasted no time in brandishing his driving style of techno. Though coined from Espen’s new residence in Europe (as of 2010 from Argentina), the label’s importance for the history of the South American dance-music scene can be seen as objectively invaluable - its foothold dating back to 2011 . With the help of the now established DJ and friend, Jonas Kopp and Argentina’s infamous Cocoliche club, Lauritzen and his label have risen through the ranks, maintaining a solid position of notoriety in contemporary techno. Since moving to Europe in 2010, Lauritzen’s output has naturally refined itself. Constantly producing, yet seldom releasing, the Argentinian has an admirable trait of releasing at the right place and right time. F/T/S landed on London-based label LDNwht maiden release (curated by Gareth Wild and Dax J) back in 2014, which has since become an underground goldmine for DJs, presenting itself in the form of various artist releases. So effective was the release that it picked up some serious support from Berghain resident Fiedel who has since featured the track (along with id B) in his latest mix for Ostgut Ton . Such was the belief in the Norwegian-cum-Argentinian, Espen started off 2018 DJing for Berghain’s Klubnacht, hosted by Fiedel. Having proven his hand at being label boss, DJ and producer, Lauritzen’s efforts at the three always seem to be shifting its emphasis. Krill has proudly released over 11 records and with a roster boasting the likes of Jonas Kopp, Stanislav Tolkachev, Matrixxman to mention but a few, the legacy of Krill and Espen Lauritzen continues to prove itself - all at the hands of the ambition of the man behind it all.
